PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag melting device capable of preventing a slag outlet from being closed by a fixed slag by surely and quickly melting and removing the slag fixed to the slag outlet.SOLUTION: The slag melting device 23 includes a melting furnace 18 for burning unburnt gas generated in a gasification furnace, melting ashes included therein to generate a molten slag 2, and discharging the generated molten slag 2 from a slag outlet 31, s slag discharge shoot 19 disposed in the melting furnace 18 and connected to the slag outlet 31, and a slag burner 20 for heating the slag 2 fixed to the slag outlet 31 by flames injected from the slag discharge shoot 19 side to melt and remove the slag 2. The slag melting device 23 includes a conditioner supply device 22 capable of supplying a first or a second base strength conditioner 41 or 42 for lowering the melting point of the slag 2 from the slag discharge shoot 19 side in a direction of flames when the slag burner 20 injects the flames.
