The first region is positioned to encounter an engine exhaust gas flow in front of the second region. The first supported catalyst promotes the oxidation of NO and/or HC. The first supported catalyst comprises a platinum-based catalyst. The platinum-based catalyst comprises platinum and palladium. The platinum-based catalyst comprises platinum and bismuth.
