    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling the formation of biofilms in cooling water systems or closed systems wherein water is cooled, heated and recirculated, by injecting a glycol ether or mixture of glycol ethers as biodispersant in the water of such systems. The glycol ethers are chosen to be soluble in water. The preferred glycol ethers result from the reaction between one or more alcohols with one or more epoxides, preferably chosen from ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
