Abstract: A method of operating a nuclear reactor is disclosed. The reactor (1) encloses a core having a plurality of fuel rods (9). Each fuel rod (9) includes a cladding and fuel pellets of a nuclear fuel. The fuel pellets are arranged in an inner space of the cladding leaving a free volume comprising an upper plenum, a lower plenum and a pellet-cladding gap. The reactor is operated at a normal power and a normal inlet sub-cooling during a normal state. The reactor is monitored for detecting a defect on the cladding of any of the fuel rods. The operation of the reactor is changed to a particular state after detecting such a defect. The particular state permits an increase of the free volume in the defect fuel rod. The reactor is operated at the particular state during a limited time period, after which the reactor is operated at the normal state.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for assessing the condition of and treating patients for heart failure by the delivery of continuous positive airway pressure are disclosed. Treatment of obstruction due to reflex vocal cord closure often experienced by heart failure patients is distinguished from treatment of upper airway obstruction typically associated with Obstructive Sleep Disorder. Treatment may also be implemented by delivering synchronized cardiac pressure oscillations superimposed on a respiratory pressure level to provide assistance for the heart. Heart treatment pressure dose indicator may be calculated for prescribing and monitoring the delivery of treatment. The apparatus may also generate data to track heart failure condition that may be indicative of the degree of severity of heart failure based upon breathing patterns to assist in the diagnosis and management of heart failure patients.

Abstract: A back scratcher, including an elongated handle with an open end for gripping and a closed end inserted into a polypropylene or other light weight plastic head offering rigidity, flexibility, light weight and relatively low cost, and resembling in general appearance a poly leaf or shrub rake. The head is in a triangular shape and has a base from which extends individual, flexible, reinforced tines of a sufficient length to allow movement—particularly horizontally—when used in an upright position.
