Disclosed are: an inhibitor of the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene; a therapeutic agent for a disease associated with matrix metalloproteinase-9; and a carcinostatic agent. Each of the agents comprises a pyrrole-imidazole polyamide having an N-methylpyrrole unit, an N-methylimidazole unit and a γ-aminobutyric acid unit. The pyrrole-imidazole polyamide can be folded at the site of the γ-aminobutyric acid unit to form a U-shaped conformation in a minor groove of a double-stranded domain comprising a part or the whole of a specific nucleotide sequence (SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:4) included in a human matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene promoter and a strand complementary to the part or the whole of the specific nucleotide sequence. In the U-shaped conformation, a Py-Im pair, an Im/Py pair and a Py/Py pair in the pyrrole-imidazole polyamide target a C-G base pair, a G-C base pair, and both of an A-T base pair and a T-A base pair in the minor groove, respectively.

The packet queues segregate arriving data by the data's Quality of Service (QoS) requirement. An appropriate communication channel is selected. The communication channel is accessed through a contention access schema. An M-Request-To-Send (MRTS) message is sent to potential receiving mesh points with receiving mesh points responding with an M-Clear-to-Send (MCTS) message. Data from the packet queues is transmitted to the next mesh point. A mesh point power save mode allows battery operated mesh points to sleep preserving power.

The invention provides molecular methods of screening chickens to determine those more likely to have a lean or fat phenotype by identifying the presence of at least one polymorphism in genetic material of a chicken in the thyroid hormone repressible gene (THRG) or its 3′ untranslated region (SEQ ID NO: 1) that is associated with a fat phenotype or a lean phenotype. The invention also provides methods of screening chickens to identify a polymorphism associated with a fat or lean phenotype. The invention further provides oligonucleotide probes and primers useful for detecting the polymorphisms associated with a fat or lean phenotype.

Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may obtain a TXOP for a 2 MHz bandwidth mode frame transmission with another device capable of operating in a 2 MHz bandwidth mode and a 1 MHz bandwidth mode. The WTRU may conduct a request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) frame exchange in the second bandwidth mode, and truncate the TXOP by transmitting a contention free (CF)-End frame in the first and second bandwidth modes.
