Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing seals made of polyurethane, in which (a) aliphatic polyisocyanate, (b) compounds containing at least two isocyanate-reactive groups, (c) catalysts, (d) antioxidants and/or light stabilizers, and, optionally, (e) blowing agents, and (f) auxiliary agents and/or additives are mixed to form a reaction mixture, and the reaction mixture is allowed to complete the reaction to form polyurethane. The seal made of polyurethane has a Shore A hardness of less than 90 and a density of at least 850 g/L. The polymeric compounds having groups reactive toward isocyanate include b1) polyetherols having a functionality of 2 to 4 and a hydroxyl number of 20 to 100 mg KOH/g, b2) hydrophobic polyols having an OH number of less than 180 mg KOH/g and a functionality of greater than 2 to 3, and b3) chain extenders.

Abstract: Disclosed are polyurethane encapsulating compounds for embedding hollow fibers of filter elements, obtainable by mixing a polyol component (A) and an isocyanate component (B), including at least one aromatic isocyanate, to give a reaction mixture and reacting the mixture to completion to give the polyurethane encapsulating compound. The polyol component (A) includes at least one fatty-acid-based polyol (a1) having a hydroxyl number of greater than 50 to less than 500 mg KOH/g and a functionality of from 2-6, and at least one bismuth catalyst (a2), obtainable by mixing a bismuth carboxylate (a2-1) with an amine compound (a2-11) having at least one tertiary nitrogen atom and at least one isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atom. The molar ratio of bismuth to amine compound (a2-11) is 1:0.5-1:50. Also disclosed are methods for producing filter elements using the polyurethane encapsulating compounds and to uses of the polyurethane encapsulating compounds for the embedding of hollow fibers.

Abstract: Disclosed are polyurethane encapsulating compounds for embedding hollow fibers of filter elements, obtainable by mixing a polyol component (A) and an isocyanate component (B), including at least one aromatic isocyanate, to give a reaction mixture and reacting the mixture to completion to give the polyurethane encapsulating compound. The polyol component (A) includes at least one fatty-acid-based polyol (a1) having a hydroxyl number of greater than 50 to less than 500 mg KOH/g and a functionality of from 2-6, and at least one bismuth catalyst (a2), obtainable by mixing a bismuth carboxylate (a2-1) with an amine compound (a2-11) having at least one tertiary nitrogen atom and at least one isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atom. The molar ratio of bismuth to amine compound (a2-11) is 1:0.5-1:50. Also disclosed are methods for producing filter elements using the polyurethane encapsulating compounds and to uses of the polyurethane encapsulating compounds for the embedding of hollow fibers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyurethane adhesive comprising an isocyanate component A and a polyol component B where the isocyanate component A comprises at least one diisocyanate or polyisocyanate and the polyol component B comprises the alkoxylation product of a mixture of castor oil or ricinoleic acid (i), of an aromatic di- or polyol (ii), and of an OH-functional compound having aliphatically bonded OH groups and OH-functionality of from 1 to 8 (iii), and also optionally of a compound (iv), selected from the group consisting of cyclic anhydrides of dicarboxylic acids, and optionally of a compound (v) selected from the group consisting of cyclic mono- or diesters. The present invention further relates to a process for adhesive bonding with use of the polyurethane adhesive of the invention, to an item adhesive-bonded with the use of the polyurethane adhesive, and to the use of said item in the construction of wind turbines.
