Abstract: A polyethylene-polypropylene composition obtainable by blending a) 80 to 97 wt.-% of a blend (A) comprising A-1) polypropylene and A-2) polyethylene, wherein the weight ratio of polypropylene to polyethylene is from 3:7 to 7:3, and wherein blend (A) is a recycled material, which is recovered from a waste plastic material derived from post-consumer and/or industrial waste; and b) 3 to 20 wt.-% of a compatibilizer (B) being a C2C8 plastomer, having—a DSC melting point of below 75° C. (ISO11357);—an MFR2 (ISO1133, 2.16 kg load at 190° C.) of equal or below 1.5 g/10 min; and—a density of equal or lower than 885 kg/m3 (ISO1183),wherein the ratio of MFR2 (blend (A) (ISO1133, 2.16 kg load at 230° C.)/MFR2(compatibilizer (B) (ISO1133, 2.16 kg load at 190 ° C.), is in the range 3.0 to 15; and c) 0 to 1.0 wt.-% of a stabilizer or mixture of stabilizers.

Abstract: A polyethylene composition comprising a base resin is disclosed herein. The base resin includes an ethylene homo- or copolymer fraction (A1), and an ethylene homo- or copolymer fraction (A2). Fraction (A1) has a lower weight average molecular weight than fraction (A2). The base resin has a melt flow rate MFR21 of equal to or less than 8.0 g/10 min and a density of 930 to 950 kg/m3. The polyethylene composition has a melt flow rate MFR5 of 0.01 to 0.3 g/10 min, a flow rate ratio FRR21/5 of equal to or more than 20 and a ratio of the weight average molecular weight and the number average molecular weight (Mw/Mn) of equal to or less than 30. Also the polyethylene composition has a tensile modulus of less than 1000 MPa. Also a process for the production of a polyethylene composition comprising polyethylene base resin is disclosed herein.

Abstract: The present application relates to a process for producing a multimodal polyethylene composition comprising the steps of polymerizing a polyethylene fraction (A-1) having a weight average molecular weight Mw of equal to or more than 500 kg/mol to equal to or less than 10,000 kg/mol and a density of equal to or more than 915 kg/m3 to equal to or less than 960 kg/m3 in one reaction step and polymerizing a polyethylene fraction (A-2) having a lower weight average molecular weight Mw as polyethylene fraction (A-1) and a density of equal to or more than 910 kg/m3 to equal to or less than 975 kg/m3 in a second reaction step of a sequential multistage process wherein one of said polyethylene fractions is polymerized in the presence of the other of said polyethylene fractions to form a first polyethylene resin (A) having a weight average molecular weight Mw of equal to or more than 150 kg/mol to equal to or less than 1,500 kg/mol, and a density of equal to or more than 910 kg/m3 to equal to or less than 975 kg/m3, wherein the weight average molecular weight Mw of the first polyethylene resin (A) is lower than the weight average molecular weight Mw of the polyethylene fraction (A-1), blending the first polyethylene resin (A) with a second polyethylene resin (B) having a weight average molecular weight Mw of equal to or more than 50 kg/mol to less than 500 kg/mol, and a density of equal to or more than 910 kg/m3 to equal to or less than 970 kg/m3 to form said multimodal polyethylene composition, wherein the multimodal polyethylene composition a melt flow rate MFR5 (190° C., 5 kg) of 0.01 to 10 g/10 min and a density of equal to or more than 910 kg/m3 to equal to or less than 970 kg/m3 a polyethylene composition obtainable by said process and the polyethylene resin of said first polymerization step.
