Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, non-transitory computer-readable mediums, and apparatuses are presented for detecting and positioning sound in a home automation system. Indications of sounds and timestamps may be received from various home automation devices. Using the received indications, a sound magnitude for the sound and whether the sound originated inside or outside of the structure can be determined. The sound magnitude may be compared to an inside sound threshold level if the sound was determined to originate inside the structure or compared to an outside sound threshold level if the sound was determined to originate outside the structure. Sound information corresponding to the sound may be logged if the sound was determined to originate inside and the sound magnitude exceeds the inside sound threshold level or the sound was determined to originate outside and the sound magnitude exceeds the outside sound threshold level.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a device in a home automation network based on detection of a weather event include receiving image data from a camera in operative communication with a host system, where the image data is representative of an outdoor weather event that is captured by the camera, and analyzing the image data to identify the outdoor weather event. Systems and methods may include determining a home automation rule based on the identified outdoor weather event, where the home automation rule includes an operational setting of a home automation device, and instructing the home automation device based on the determined home automation rule via a home automation network.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a dual use remote-control device. In one embodiment, a dual use remote-control device may include a first set of input controls such as buttons positioned on a top side of the housing, a second set of input controls positioned on a bottom side of the housing including a QWERTY keyboard and an optical sensor to remotely control movement of a cursor on a display by the optical sensor detecting movement of a user's finger across the optical sensor or movement of the optical sensor across an object such as a table, arm of a chair or user's lap.
