Abstract:
A cycloolefin in copolymeric (COC) optical communication device. The COC optical communication device includes a core section of functional metallocene cycloolefin copolymer (f-mCOC) having a refractive index n1 for light transmission, and a cladding layer of metallocene cycloolefin copolymer (mCOC), having a refractive index n2 smaller than n1, surrounding the core section and forming a waveguide structure together with the core section. Due to the fact that the various components of the optical communication device are comprised of essentially the same materials, signal transmission loss between heterogeneous interfaces is prevented, and provides excellent optical properties and superior processability.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing polymeric foam. The invention is related to a method of manufacturing polymeric foam by allowing supercritical fluids to diffuse into polymeric material placed in a mold directly through the mold to impregnate the polymeric material.
Abstract:
A plastic liquid crystal display device and a fabrication method thereof. A plastic substrate having a plurality of bumps on at least one surface thereof is integrally molded. A glass transition temperature (Tg) of the plastic substrate is greater than 150null C. A melt flow index (MFI) of the plastic substrate is greater than 2. A conformal reflective film on the plastic substrate with the bumps is formed. An insulating substrate opposite the plastic plate is provided. A transparent electrode is formed on an inner surface of the insulating substrate. A liquid crystal layer is inserted between the plastic substrate and the insulating substrate.
Abstract:
A biodegradable porous device for tissue engineering is disclosed, which comprises (A) a porous polymeric scaffold comprising a co-continuous phase of a first biodegradable polymer and a second biodegradable polymer which are incompatible with each other, wherein the first biodegradable polymer contains a continuous network of large, interconnected pores, and the second biodegradable polymer contains small, partially interconnected pores; (B) a biodegradable polymer fiber dispersed in, and compatible with the matrix of the first biodegradable polymer; and optionally (C) an active ingredient provided in the polymeric scaffold.
Abstract:
An acrylonitrile block copolymer and method for producing the same. A macroinitiator is produced by halogenating the terminal group of the polyester. The macroinitiator then contacts with acrylonitrile (AN) monomer or its derivative in the presence of the metal catalyst and solvent mixture to produce a block copolymer composed of a polyacrylonitrile, and a polyester.
Abstract:
A cartridge for an electrophoresis detection device and a manufacturing method thereof. The cartridge includes a first member, a second member, and a capillary. The first member includes a first concave portion. The second member includes a second concave portion corresponding to the first concave portion. The second member is combined with the first member in a manner such that the second concave portion faces the first concave portion. The capillary is disposed in the first concave portion and the second concave portion in a manner such that it protrudes from the first and second members.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to crosslinking of porous materials made of biodegradable polymers. The method comprises: (a) placing a porous biodegradable polymer in a chamber; (b) introducing a supercritical fluid containing a crosslinking agent into the chamber to effect crosslinking of the porous biodegradable polymer; and optionally (c) introducing a pure supercritical into the chamber to wash the crosslinked polymer until the crosslinking agent is substantially removed from the polymer.
Abstract:
A hand-held electrophoresis detection device and support thereof. The hand-held electrophoresis detection device includes a support and a cartridge. The cartridge attaches a sample, and is disposed in the support in a detachable manner.
Abstract:
A method of making a porous biodegradable polymer is disclosed, which comprises (a) placing a biodegradable polymer and a solvent in a chamber; (b) adding a supercritical fluid to the chamber and maintaining the chamber at a predetermined temperature for a sufficient period of time to allow the supercritical fluid to dissolve into the biodegradable polymer with the help of the solvent; and (c) venting the supercritical fluid and the solvent by reducing the pressure in the chamber, thereby obtaining a porous biodegradable polymer.
Abstract:
A resin composition with a low dielectric constant comprises: (a) a functionalized cyclic olefin copolymer; (b) a mixture of epoxy resins; and (c) a curing agent. A laminate and a resin coated clad made of the resin composition exhibit reduced dielectric constants of 3.3 and 2.9 at 1 GHz, respectively.
