Abstract:
An apparatus of a mobile communication device comprises at least one radio with signal processing circuitry arranged to transmit and receive radio frequency (RF) signals. The apparatus includes a plurality of display components. An antenna layer is coupled to the signal processing circuitry and is configured for transmission and reception of the RF signals. The antenna layer is disposed between one of the plurality of display panel components and at least one isolation layer. The plurality of display panel components includes at least one of a protection coating layer, a display panel, a touch panel, or a cover.
Abstract:
Embodiments of an optically transparent antenna are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the optically transparent antenna may comprise a plurality of electrically-isolated conductive patches arranged on a non-conductive surface. A combination of a size of the conductive patches and a spacing between the conductive patches is less than a human visual acuity for a predetermined viewing distance so that the patches are not be visible or perceptible to a human. In some embodiments, optically transparent antenna may serve as one or more antennas on a mobile platform.

Abstract:
Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and/or methods of wireless communication via a dual directional antenna. For example, a device may include a hinge to connect between first and second elements to allow rotating the first element between first and second rotational states with respect to the second element, and a rotatable dual directional wireless communication antenna coupled to the hinge. The dual directional wireless communication antenna may be configured to communicate wireless communication signals in a first direction, when the first element is at the first rotational state, and to communicate the wireless communication signals in a second direction, different from the first direction, when the first element is at the second rotational state.
Abstract:
A communication device includes at least one radio that comprises signal processing circuitry, and at least one antenna coupled to the signal processing circuitry to send and receive radio signals. A component of the communication device requires user visibility and includes an isolator for isolating the at least one antenna, the isolator comprising at least one film that includes a transparent conductor. The component that requires user visibility may be a display screen or part of the chassis of a transparent communication device. The transparent conductor comprises a transparent conducting oxide such as indium tin oxide, indium tin oxide ink, graphite material, carbon nanotubes, or a conductive polymer.

Abstract:
A display, such as for a touch-sensitive communication device, can include a transparent cover glass, pixels that emit light through the cover glass, and multiple antennas positioned along respective paths in an inactive area between the pixels. The antennas do not obstruct the light produced by the pixels, and can therefore be composed of opaque materials, such as metallic thin films, without affecting the optical properties of the display. In some examples, several antennas can have the same size and shape but different orientations, so that a radio can switch between or among the antennas to optimize reception. In some examples, the antennas can have different sizes and/or shapes, so that the antennas can send and/or receive radio signals in different frequency ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. In some examples, locating the antennas in the display can allow the device to include a metallic housing.
