摘要: Disclosed herein are techniques to manage access to a memory using a buffer construct that includes state information associated with a region of the memory. The disclosed techniques facilitate access to the region of memory through a direct memory access operation while the state information of the buffer construct is in a first state. The state information can be transitioned to a second state in response to a first instruction. The disclosed techniques also facilitate access to the region of memory through a cache operation while the state information of the buffer construct is in the second state is disclosed. The state information can be transitioned to the first state in response to a second instruction.

摘要: Disclosed herein are techniques to execute tasks with a computing device. A first task is initiated to perform an operation of the first task. A buffer construct that represents a region of memory accessible to the operation of the first task is created. A second task is initiated to perform of an operation of the second task that is configured to be timed to initiate in response to the buffer construct being communicated to the second task from the first task.

摘要: A computer system is provided that utilizes a buffer construct to manage memory access operations to a region of memory. The buffer construct may correspond to a data item or structure that represents a region of memory. Each task may control the buffer construct exclusively of other tasks, so that the region of memory that is represented by the buffer construct is only available to the controlling task. Another task that requires access to the region of memory must wait until the controlling task makes the buffer construct available. The controlling task makes the buffer construct available only when DMA or other memory access operations that are in progress become complete. In this way, the buffer construct acts as a token that synchronizes each of the concurrent tasks execution and ensures mutually exclusive access to the common region of memory.

摘要: The invention relates to earth connections to workpieces particularly a workpiece to which an arc is to be struck, and more particularly to a workpiece that is underwater. It is of considerable importance that a workpiece is properly connected to earth, and that the impedance of the connection is not such as will elevate dangerously the voltage on the workpiece. The objective of the invention is to solve this problem, an objective met by an earth connection for workplaces that comprises a loop in the connection of the workpiece to earth, the loop being connected at each end to and being completed by the workpiece, and there being a sensor means to sense current flowing in the loop above a predetermined level.

摘要: A protective cage for footwear bladders is disclosed. The protective cage includes a cage base and a plurality of support members that extend outwardly from the cage base. The support members extend across the side wall of the bladder to protect the device from abrasion and to prevent fatigue. The use of the support members, which selectively bend and buckle under loaded conditions, control the amount of perimeter deflection of the bladder, while allowing for complete deflection at the center of the bladder.

摘要: A television receiver which is coupled to a digital VCR to receive an ATSC-encoded multi-program stream containing video, audio and data programs. The receiver recognizes one of the data programs as containing computer software for the digital television receiver, extracts the data program from the multi-program stream into a memory area which is separate from the memory areas used to decode the audio and video programs and then uses data in the extracted data program to update information which controls the operation of the television receiver. The television receiver includes a microprocessor which is coupled to a video processor via an IC bus. The video processor includes registers which are coupled to the IC bus. The microprocessor updates these values from the information in the extracted data program. The extracted data program may include a program image for the operational software for the microprocessor and may replace the operational software to update the operation of the television receiver. Alternatively, the extracted data program may include programming which applies to video and audio data that is recorded on the video tape and allows a user to interact with the presentation of the video and audio data.

摘要: A tube connector (10) to enable a straight tube or even a curved tube of tight radius of curvature to be connected to a structural member has a flat cutter disc (11) shaped to fit in the end of an internally splined tube (20). The outer edge of the cutter disc has a series of teeth (12) which cut into and locate with the splines when the cutter disc is rotated in the tube. The cutter disc may have a floating central insert (25) screw threaded to allow connection to another structural member without a need for precise alignment.
