Abstract: A light-emitting device and a display device using the same are disclosed. The light-emitting device improves the reliability of a process of disposing light-emitting devices. The light-emitting device is configured to ensure electrical connections even if the light-emitting device is inverted while being disposed on a substrate. The light-emitting device includes an n-type semiconductor layer and a p-type semiconductor layer. N-type electrodes and p-type electrodes are disposed on both sides of top and bottom surfaces of the light-emitting device. Contact holes are provided to electrically connect one of the n-type electrodes to the n-type semiconductor layer and one of the p-type electrodes to the p-type semiconductor layer. When the light-emitting device is inverted while being disposed on a substrate, the light-emitting device operates ordinarily, thereby reducing the defect rate of a display device.

Abstract: Provided is a display device. The display device includes a substrate having a sub-pixel area. In some examples, the substrate may have or define a plurality of sub-pixel areas. A light-emitting diode (LED) and a thin-film transistor for driving the LED are disposed in the sub-pixel area. An extended light path layer is disposed on the substrate and is configured to surround the sub-pixel area. Accordingly, it is possible so as to improve the luminous efficiency of the display device.

Abstract: A display device may include a substrate, pixels including sub-pixels, a first cover layer which is disposed on the substrate and includes an open area, a plurality of first light emitting diodes which is disposed at the sub-pixels on the first cover layer, and a second light emitting diode, which is disposed in one or more pixels among the pixels, on the substrate. A part of a lower side of the second light emitting diode may be disposed in the open area. A part of an upper side of the second light emitting diode may be disposed on the first cover layer. An area of a top surface of the second light emitting diode may be larger than an area of a bottom surface of the second light emitting diode. A repair light emitting diode is transferred only when a defect occurs, thereby reducing a process cost.
