Abstract: An OSFP optical transceiver having split multiple fiber optical port using reduced amount of MPO terminations is provided that includes two adjacent sockets integrated into the optical port of the OSFP optical transceiver. The two adjacent sockets are vertically oriented with respect to the mounting baseplate of the OSFP optical transceiver, and each of the two adjacent sockets is adapted to receive an MPO receptacle that terminates the proximal end of a bundle of fibers. The OSFP optical transceiver also includes an optical connection between each socket and a corresponding lens in the OSFP optical transceiver, for transmitting optical signals received from other transceivers into the OSFP optical transceiver and optical signals generated in the OSFP optical transceiver to other transceivers.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are described that provide improved networking communication systems and associated adapters. An example networking communication adapter includes an adapter housing defining a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The first end is configured to engage an Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable (OSFP) connector, and the second end is configured to receive a Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density (QSFP-DD) transceiver therein. The networking communication adapter further includes an inner connector positioned within the adapter housing. In an operational configuration in which the first end engages the OSFP connector and the second end receives the QSFP-DD transceiver, the inner connector operably connects the QSFP-DD transceiver with the OSFP connector such that signals may pass therebetween.

Abstract: A communication device includes a mechanical frame, which is configured to be inserted into a multi-channel Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) receptacle that is compliant with a first SFP standard and to receive inside the frame an SFP connector that is compliant with a second SFP standard, which is different from the first SFP standard. First electrical terminals, held by the mechanical frame, are configured to mate with respective first pins of the SFP receptacle, and second electrical terminals, electrically coupled within the mechanical frame to the first electrical terminals, are configured to mate with respective second pins of the SFP connector. A heat sink is mounted on the mechanical frame and configured to make a positive contact with the SFP connector when the SFP connector is inserted into the mechanical frame and to be contained completely within the SFP receptacle when the mechanical frame is inserted into the SFP receptacle.

Abstract: A pluggable network interface device includes a printed circuit board (“PCB”), a housing, and a heatsink. The heatsink includes a first surface and a second surface, disposed opposite the first surface, that is maintained in direct contact with a surface of a heat-generating circuit of the PCB. The housing includes an outer shell defining an exterior of the housing, a receiving cavity disposed inside the outer shell, and an aperture extending through a first side of the outer shell from the exterior of the housing into the receiving cavity. A portion of the PCB and the second surface of the heatsink are disposed inside the receiving cavity while a portion of the heatsink extends from within the receiving cavity through the aperture arranging the first surface of the heatsink adjacent the exterior of the housing.
