The present invention discloses a composition comprising a mixture containing 100 parts by weight of substantially linear polyphenylene sulfide which is treated with an aqueous solution of an acid or a salt of a strong acid and a weak base and which has not less than 70 mol % of a repeating unit of ##STR1## 0.05 to 5 parts by weight of at least one aminoalkoxysilane compound and, if necessary, 0.01 to 3 parts by weight of a releasing agent, the mixture being kneaded under heating at a temperature higher than the melting point of the polyphenylene sulfide, said composition exhibiting excellent impact strength and weld strength and providing molded product with small amount of flash generated during molding. The invention also discloses a composition which further comprises a fibrous reinforcing material and/or an inorganic powdered or granular filler, according to necessity, as well as disclosing a method of producing said composition.

A readily crystallizable arylenesulfide resin composition is produced by adding, to 100 parts by weight of an arylenesulfide polymer, 0.01 to 10.0 parts of an organic acid or organic acid anhydride having a high boiling or melting point such as 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, and then heating the mixture to a temperature not lower than the melting point of the polymer. The resulting resin composition is characterized in that its crystallization from its glass state and molten state is very rapid, in that it forms very fine spherulite structures, and in that it has a high degree of crystallization, a very crystallizable character, and other desirable characteristics.

Disclosed herein is a crystallized, thin-wall container which is excellent in heat-resistance, oil-resistance, chemical stability under high temperature and high humidity and gas impermeability, is particularly suitable for heating foodstuffs packaged in it in electronic range, electric oven, etc. and is obtained by thermoforming a substantially amorphous sheet which has a crystallinity index of below 15% and an elongation of not less than 100% at room temperature and is obtained from a poly(arylene sulfide) which has a substantially linear structure, has not less thant 70 wt % of a repeating unit of ##STR1## and a logarithmic viscosity number of 0.2 to 1.0 in a solution of 1-chloronaphthalene (concentration of 0.4 g/dl at a temperature of 208.degree. Disclosed herein is a composition of polyarylene thioether prepared by combining 0.001 to 10 parts by weight of kaoline of the mean particle diameter of 0.03 to 2 .mu.m with 100 parts by weight of polyarylene thioether having the repeating unit of ##STR1## as the main constituent. The composition of polyarylene thioether has a high crystallization rate and forms a minute spherulite structure. Moreover, the composition having a short molding cycle at the time of melt molding, generates a small amount of the flash and gives the molded products excellent in mechanical properties.Disclosed herein also is a composition prepared by further combining an inorganic filler and/or a fibrous filler with the above-mentioned composition of polyarylene thioether.

Disclosed herein is a polyarylene thioether composition comprising: 100 parts by weight of a polyarylene thioether (A) which contains not less than 70 wt % of a repeating unit of ##STR1## and 0.01 to 15 parts by weight of a polyarylene thioether (B), which is a nucleating agent and contains not less than 50 wt % of a repeating unit of ##STR2## as the main constituent and has a melting point of not lower than 290.degree. C. or a melt crystallization temperature of not lower than 220.degree. C. This composition may further comprise 0.1 to 300 parts by weight of an inorganic filler and/or a fibrous filler. A 50% crystallization time, t.sub.1/2, at 250.degree. C. of the polyarylene thioether composition is not more than 1/1.5 of the 50% crystallization time of a polyarylene thioether which does not contain the polyarylene thioether (B) Accordingly, its melt molding cycle is short and its molded product has a high strength.
