An optical module includes an optical element including a light emitting section, a first wiring board, on a first principal plane of which the optical element is mounted, a ferrule functioning as a holding member including a through hole and disposed on a second principal plane of the first wiring board, an optical fiber inserted into the through hole of the ferrule, a side surface wiring board, a third principal plane of which is disposed in parallel to an optical axis and an end portion of which is connected to the first wiring board, an electrode being disposed on a fourth principal plane of the side surface wiring board, and a signal cable having a distal end portion bonded to the electrode of the side surface wiring board.

An image pickup module includes: an optical waveguide plate that includes a first waveguide, a second waveguide, and a third waveguide optically coupled to the first waveguide and the second waveguide through a branch portion; an image pickup device; a first optical device and a second optical device both mounted on the optical waveguide plate; an optical fiber; a ferrule into which the optical fiber is inserted; and a plurality of conductive wires. The ferrule includes a notch on a front surface, and distal end portions of the conductive wires are held between the optical waveguide plate and a surface of the notch of the ferrule. The other components are disposed within a plane of projection of the image pickup device.

An in-vivo information acquisition system is an in-vivo information acquisition system including an in-vivo information acquisition apparatus provided with a configuration capable of transmitting a wireless signal which includes in-vivo information about an inside of a subject, and a terminal apparatus provided with a configuration capable of receiving the wireless signal transmitted from the in-vivo information acquisition apparatus outside the subject, wherein the terminal apparatus includes a reception confirmation signal transmission section generating and transmitting a reception confirmation signal when the wireless signal which includes the in-vivo information about the subject can be received; and the in-vivo information acquisition apparatus includes a storage section, and a control section causing the wireless signal which includes the in-vivo information about the subject to be transmitted and at the same time, causing the same in-vivo information as included in the transmitted wireless signal to be stored into the storage section at least during a period during which the reception confirmation signal cannot be received.
