Abstract: An inertial drive actuator includes a displacement unit, a vibration substrate, a movable body, a first magnetic field generator which generates a magnetic field so that, a magnetic attractive force or a magnetic repulsive force acts in a direction opposite to the movable body, a first yoke, and which induces a magnetic flux generated by the first magnetic field generator such that, the flux generated by the first magnetic field generator is concentrated on a surface of the movable body, opposite to the vibration substrate, and second yokes and on a side of the vibration substrate, opposite to a direction facing the movable body, and the second yokes and control a frictional force acting between the movable body and the vibration substrate by controlling the magnetic field generated by the first magnetic field generator.

Abstract: An inertial drive actuator includes a shift unit that generates a shift in a first direction and in a second direction opposite to the first direction, a base plate that moves with the shift of the shift unit, and a mover disposed on a surface of the base plate and having a magnetic field generating unit. The mover has a first yoke that guides magnetic flux generated by the magnetic field generating unit such that the magnetic flux concentrates on a surface of the mover facing the base plate with respect to both S and N poles. Also included is a second yoke provided on a side of the base plate facing away from the mover. The frictional force acting between the mover and the base plate is controlled by controlling a magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generating unit to drive the mover.

Abstract: A variable-stiffness actuator is to be installed into a flexible member and provide different degrees of stiffness to the flexible member. The actuator includes two hard members located apart from each other, and a shape-memory member connecting the hard members. The shape-memory member has a property of transitioning in phase between a first phase and a second phase. The shape-memory member is in a low stiffness state when in the first phase, and is in a high stiffness state when in the second phase. The actuator also includes a inducing member configured to cause a portion of the shape-memory member between the hard members to transition in phase between the first and second phases, and a urging member configured to urge the hard members in directions away from each other.

Abstract: An inertial drive actuator includes a shift unit that generates a small shift, a vibration base plate that moves to and fro with the small shift of the shift unit, a mover having a first magnetic field generating unit, a first yoke, and a second yoke.
