Abstract: Single-counter, multi-trigger systems and methods in communication systems consolidate tracking of multiple trigger events into a single counter in place of plural counters. The single counter may track multiple trigger events for a single triggered element. Likewise, the single counter may track trigger events for a plurality of triggered elements. By consolidating tracking of trigger events with reference to a single counter, the size of the circuit may be reduced and power savings may be achieved.

Abstract: Pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) encoding for a communication bus is disclosed. In particular, various two-wire communication buses may encode bits using three-level PAM (PAM-3) or five-level PAM (PAM-5) to increase bit transmission without requiring increases to clock frequencies or adding additional pins. Avoiding increases in clock frequencies helps reduce the risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI), and avoiding use of extra pins avoids cost increases for integrated circuits (ICs).

Abstract: Expanded function datagrams in a system power management interface (SPMI) system allow a slave to use an expanded function datagram to address a larger number of masters (e.g., more than four) associated with the SPMI system. Furthermore, addressing may allow for a datagram to be broadcast to multiple masters concurrently. Still further, by signaling that the master addressing is other than the standard SPMI format, the nature of the address and payload of a datagram may be varied to handle larger volumes of data than the SPMI standard normally allows.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus generally includes a plurality of slave radio frequency (RF) devices, a master RF device configured to set a configuration parameter in a register to be applied by an RF slave device of the plurality of RF slave devices, and a clock line coupled between the master RF device and the plurality of slave RF devices. The slave RF device may be configured to: count a number of cycles of a clock signal on the clock line; and apply the configuration parameter for the slave RF device based on the count of the number of cycles, wherein the master RF device is further configured to disable an interrupt reporting function of the plurality of slave RF device during a time period between setting the configuration parameter in the register and the configuration parameter being applied.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for optimizing bus latency associated with a serial bus using staggered bidirectional transmission within a transaction or datagram are described. A method performed at a device coupled to a serial bus includes initiating a transaction between the first device and a second device to exchange a datagram with the second device in a first direction over the serial bus, and exchanging one or more bytes of data with the second device in a second direction over the serial bus before the datagram has been completely transmitted. The first device and the second device alternate as transmitters on the serial bus such that direction of data transmission is staggered on the serial bus. The serial bus may be operated in accordance with an I3C, RFFE, SPMI, or other protocol.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for communicating datagrams over a serial communication link are provided. A transmitting device generates an address field in a datagram, sets a value of at least one bit in the address field to indicate a number of bytes of data associated with a data frame of the datagram, generates the data frame in the datagram, the data frame including the number of bytes of data, and sends the datagram to a receiving device. A receiving device receives a datagram from a transmitting device, decodes an address field of the datagram to detect a number of bytes of data included in a data frame of the datagram based on a value of at least one bit in the address field, and decodes the data frame to recover the detected number of bytes of data.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for communication virtualized general-purpose input/output (GPIO) signals over a serial communication link. An apparatus includes a serial bus, and an originating device and destination device coupled to the serial bus. The originating device may be configured to generate a first virtual GPIO packet that carries a payload representative of signaling state of physical GPIO in the originating device, generate a second virtual GPIO packet that carries a payload representative of an event generated by a processor in the originating device, and transmit the first and second virtual GPIO packets on the serial bus. The destination device may be configured to receive the second virtual GPIO packet from the serial bus, and communicate the event to a processor of the destination device or modify signaling state of physical GPIO in the destination device in accordance with the payload of the second virtual GPIO packet.

Abstract: An aerial imaging system and method of aerially capturing an image including a first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a second UAV. The first UAV includes a camera and may be configured to receive input from an operator. The second UAV may be configured to dock with and deploy from the first UAV. The second UAV includes a light configured to provide remote illumination for the camera. The light on the second UAV may be activated to illuminate a target of photography by the camera while the second UAV is flown separate from the first UAV.
