Abstract: An orthodontic appliance shaped to receive teeth. The orthodontic appliance can be constructed from a laminate structure with a outer transparent layer and an inner translucent layer. The translucent layer can scatter light to decrease a relative degree or perceived gloss to the human eye, and hence provide a more natural appearance to the orthodontic appliance.

Abstract: An orthodontic appliance is constructed from shells shaped to receive teeth. The shells can be constructed from one or more polymer materials and stacked and also varyingly affixed to one another, which can include affixing only about the edge of each shell. The orthodontic appliance can be one of a series of similar appliances for incremental orthodontic modification of teeth.

Abstract: Devices configured for insertion into an oral cavity of a subject for delivery of an agent for a time period are described. The devices are comprised of at least two polymer shells that nest or stack to create a space or gap therebetween. The agent is placed in the gap and is released in a controlled fashion to deliver agent for the time period. Kits comprised of a device and optionally a refill of the agent are also described.

Abstract: An orthodontic appliance is constructed from shells shaped to receive teeth. The shells can be constructed from one or more polymer materials and affixed to one another about the edge of each shell, defining a narrow elongate chamber therebetween. The chamber serves to allow for the first shell contacting the teeth to flex and fit a wide range of teeth without sacrificing the overall flexural modulus of the appliance. Methods of making the appliance are also described.

Abstract: Orthodontic intervention is performed after a patient, undergoing an orthodontic treatment plan utilizing orthodontic aligners, sends an image of their teeth remotely to an image processing module. The image is analyzed to determine current teeth position and crate an electronic model of the current teeth position. From the teeth position model, it is determined that the current teeth position is not compatible with the orthodontic treatment plan, which typically requires restarting the treatment plan and having the patient rescanned. Here, an electronic model of a rescue appliance is generated, where the rescue aligner is configured to move the teeth to a position back into compatibility with the orthodontic aligners. The rescue aligner is manufactured and sent to the patient without requiring the patient to visit any point of care.
