Abstract: A multilayer ceramic capacitor includes: a pair of external electrodes; a first internal electrode containing a base metal and coupled to one of the external electrodes; a dielectric layer stacked on the first internal electrode and containing the base metal and a ceramic material mainly composed of barium titanate; and a second internal electrode stacked on the dielectric layer, containing the base metal, and coupled to another one of the external electrodes, wherein a concentration of the base metal in each of five regions, which are equally divided regions between locations 50 nm away from the first and second internal electrodes in a stacking direction between the first and second internal electrodes, is within ±20% of an average of the concentrations of the base metal in the five regions, and an atomic concentration ratio of Mg to Ti is 0 or greater and less than 0.002 in the dielectric layer.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a multilayer ceramic capacitor 10 has a first external electrode 12 and a second external electrode 13 that each contain metal grains MP and dielectric grains DP, where an oxide of the same metal element constituting the metal grain MP, or MO, is present at the interface between the metal grain MP and the dielectric grain DP. The multilayer ceramic capacitor can prevent the hardness of its external electrodes from dropping, even when the external electrodes contain metal grains and dielectric grains.

Abstract: A multilayer ceramic capacitor has a laminate including dielectric layers laminated alternately with internal electrode layers of different polarities, wherein the dielectric layer contains ceramic grains having Ba, Ti, and X (wherein X represents at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Mo, Ta, Nb, and W) and a variation in the concentration distribution of X above in the ceramic grain is within ±5%. The multilayer ceramic capacitor can offer excellent service life characteristics even when the thickness of the dielectric layer is 0.8 μm or less, as well as excellent bias characteristics.

Abstract: Dielectric layers are prepared using a dielectric material that contains a ceramic powder having Ba, Ti, and additive element X which is solid-solubilized and is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mo, Ta, Nb, and W, wherein the standard deviation of the ratio of the peak intensity of the additive element X (XKα) measured by STEM-EDX, and the sum of the peak intensity of the Ti and peak intensity of the Ba (BaLα+TiKα) measured by STEM-EDX, is less than 10.5% of the average ratio as measured at a total of five points including the three points that divide the maximum diameter of one grain of the ceramic powder into four equal parts, and two excluding the center point of the three points that divide the diameter crossing at right angles with the maximum diameter at its center point, into four equal parts.
