    Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to provide an active coordinator service in a sensor network, analyze maintenance information that indicates a battery level of a device, determine whether the device can continue to provide the active coordinator service; request maintenance information from another network device in the sensor network when the battery level does not satisfy a threshold level, determine whether the other network device can provide the active coordinator service based on its maintenance information, cease providing the active coordinator service when the other network device can provide the active coordinator service, in which a long-range wireless communication interface is turned off, and enable an IoT service that includes turning on a sensor, generating sensor information, and transmitting the sensor information to the other network device.

    Abstract: A system may receive a request to perform a firmware update on an Internet of Things (IoT) device and determine whether the IoT device is capable of switching from a first mode to a second mode. The IoT device sends and receives data via first channels when the IoT device is operating in the first mode and the IoT device sends and receives data via second channels when the IoT device is operating in the second mode. The system instructs the IoT device to switch to the second mode in response to determining that the IoT device is capable of switching to the second mode and sends the firmware update to the IoT device while the IoT device is in the second mode. The system determines that the firmware update has been completed and instructs the IoT device to switch from the second mode to the first mode when the firmware update has been completed.

    Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide an eDRX service that may be implemented for idle mode and/or connected mode of an end device. A network device stores eDRX data as a part of subscription data. The network device may provide the eDRX data to another network device that manages eDRX for end devices. The eDRX data may indicate to use global default eDRX timer values, subscriber-based eDRX timer values, ranges of eDRX timer values, and single-valued eDRX timer values. Each type of eDRX timer value may be provisioned on a per end device basis, a per radio access technology type basis, and/or a per application type basis.

    Abstract: A device may detect a trigger to configure a coverage enhancement mode for a wireless device. The wireless device may be associated with a particular coverage area. The device may determine information associated with one or more wireless devices connected to a network. The network may be associated with the particular coverage area. The information may be associated with a level of network traffic of the network. The device may determine a level of coverage enhancement for the wireless device based on the information associated with the one or more wireless devices connected to the network. The device may transmit an instruction to cause the wireless device to utilize the level of coverage enhancement for the coverage enhancement mode.

    Abstract: A device, configured as a coordinator for a wireless IoT network, may include a memory configured to store instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to identify Internet of Things (IoT) devices associated with the wireless IoT network; determine a clock error rate for the wireless IoT network; determine a last synchronization time; determine a data time period during which one or more of the IoT devices are expected to send data to the device; and set a wakeup time period for the device based on the determined clock error rate, last synchronization time, and data time period. The processor may be further configured to enter a sleep mode; exit the sleep mode when the wakeup time period begins; and perform a clock synchronization between the device and the plurality of IoT devices during the wakeup time period.
