A therapeutic endocavity probe for treating tissues in particular of the prostate by emission of focused ultrasonic waves, including a support forming a guide tube extended by a mounting head for at least one therapy transducer component with an active surface emitting focused ultrasonic waves and having a spherical front of a total surface area in which a surface window is laid out for mounting an imaging transducer. According to the invention, the therapy transducer component has a front face having a total surface area equal to the sum of the active surface area equal to 1,500 mm2±200 mm2, and of the surface area of the window for letting through the imaging transducer, the ratio of the surface area of the window over the active surface area of the therapy transducer component being less than or equal to 0.45.

A rotor containment structure for gas turbine engine comprises an inner containment layer having a single integral body defining an annular structure about the rotor, and having a support on the inner surface of the inner containment layer for at least one shroud segment. An outer containment layer provides containment strength to contain blade fragments and defining an annular structure about the inner containment layer. Air passage through the outer containment layer for air to pass from an exterior of the outer containment layer to an interior of the outer containment layer; and the inner containment layer being connected at a first end to the outer containment layer with a gap defined between the inner surface of the outer containment layer and the outer surface of the inner containment layer, the gap being in fluid communication with the air passage such that air flows through the gap, beyond a free second end of the inner containment layer.

The invention concerns a device (1) for the insonification of an environment or medium, which is designed to generate a beam of focussed waves around a point in a so-called focus zone (20), used for imaging the medium or changing the properties of the medium, with the insonification device (1) having an intrinsic or extrinsic support structure on which is installed a network of a predetermined number of ultrasound transducers (12) that are designed to be controlled independently for generation of the focussed wave beam. According to the invention, the transducers (12) used for the generation of the focussed wave beam are located in a homogeneous spatial distribution along at least two concentric spirals (11) that are wound onto a three-dimensional concave area (10) whose shape and size are chosen to allow optimal focusing of the beam at a predetermined focal length, and whose concave side is oriented toward the focus zone (20).

A process for manufacturing an embossed paperboard comprising the steps of: forming a wet mat including more than 60 wt % of cellulose fibers; pressure molding, with at least one embossing roll, the wet mat having 20 to 70 wt % solid to create a nested surface texture thereon; and drying the embossed wet mat to obtain the embossed paperboard with a grammage ranging between 125 and 1500 grams per square meter.

A system and a method discriminates a roll placed in a paper roll dispenser, as well as a paper roll with a core having at least one passive electrically conductive element, to be used in conjunction with the dispenser. The system includes a probe sensitive to a presence of an electrically conductive element in proximity thereof, the probe being located within the paper roll dispenser such that when the roll is positioned within the dispenser, the probe is in proximity of the roll. The system also includes an application for applying an input signal to the probe, a detector for detecting an output signal from the probe, the output signal being indicative of a presence of the electrically conductive element proximate the probe, and a discriminator for discriminating the paper roll based on a value of the output signal detected by the detector.

The invention concerns a fluid manipulating system, comprising a reservoir of fluid (7), a bubble trap (9) connected to the reservoir, a heat-exchanger (11) and an appliance (21) forming with the bubble trap a closed circuit of fluid, and a pump (21) circulating the fluid in the closed circuit, thereby enabling to control easily the volume of fluid in the apparatus and the temperature of said fluid. The invention is useful for manipulating coupling and cooling fluid of rectal tubes in ultrasound therapy.
Abstract:
The invention discloses an assembly/methodology for writing/erasing high-density data on a ferroelectric recording media. A preferred embodiment of the invention features a novel thermal near-field heater that may be employed in the assembly, particularly for realizing the methodology in a substantially thermal near-field mode. The invention provides advantages of data storage densities greater than that of diffraction limited systems, for example, data storage densities of approximately greater than 100 Gbit/inch2, and writing speeds approximately greater than 100 MHz.

A dual quad flexure carriage and assembly, for receiving a sensing probe, is used for scanning the sensing probe across a target surface. The flexure carriage is a unitary structure providing flat motion for the sensing probe during the scanning procedure, while further compensating for thermal creep. The dual quad flexure assembly comprises the dual quad flexure carriage along with piezo actuators and control systems to provide highly linear orthogonal motion.

An Atomic Photo-Absorption Force Microscope 1 includes an Atomic Force Microscope 10 and a radiation source 20 having an output radiation 22 wavelength selected to be preferentially absorbed by atoms or molecules associated with a sample surface 24a under investigation. Absorption of the radiation raises at least one outer shell electron to a higher energy level, resulting in an increase in radius of the atom or molecule. A tip 12 coupled through a lever 14 to the Atomic Force Microscope 10 is scanned over the surface and operates in conjunction with a laser heterodyne interferometer 18 to directly measure the resulting atomic or molecular increase of size, thereby detecting both the presence and location of the atoms or molecules under investingation. Operation in an a.c. mode by chopping the incident radiation 22 and measuring the corresponding a.c. induced tip movement beneficially increases the sensitivity of the technique, particularly if the a.c. frequency is chosen at a resonance of the tip-lever combination.

The present invention concerns a method for providing product information to at least one media displaying device (1) having output means and a data reception unit, the at least one media displaying device being located in at least one store (10), each store (10) comprising at least one data emitting device (2), characterized in that it comprises the steps of: (a) generating, at a central back-office server (3) connected to the store data emitting unit (2), an individual glyph corresponding to each different character or symbol of the product information; (b) generating at least a display script comprising reference and position data of said glyphs in the product information; (c) transmitting the display script and the individual glyphs to the store data emitting device (2); (d) transmitting the display script to the media displaying device (1); (e) broadcasting the individual glyphs; (f) selecting and loading in the media displaying device (1) individual glyphs corresponding to the reference data comprised in the display script; and (g) displaying the selected and loaded individual glyphs at the output means of the media displaying device (1) according to the position data comprised in the display script. The present invention also concerns a central back-office server, an media displaying device and a system thereof.
