摘要: A roofing system including a cap shingle and methods of producing a cap shingle and forming a roof are disclosed. In one embodiment, the cap shingle can include at least one layer of shingle material including an upper surface having a headlap portion and an exposure portion, and a lower surface. A sealant can be applied along the lower surface and a sealant attachment zone can be positioned along the upper surface of the at least one layer of shingle material between the headlap and exposure portions. The sealant attachment zone can be configured to contact a sealant applied along a lower surface of a next cap shingle to promote adhesion between the cap shingles installed along a ridge, hip, or cap of the roof.

摘要: A cap shingle configured to be installed over a hip or ridge of a roof structure, and a method for creating scored hinge lines in hip and ridge cap shingles during manufacturing while minimizing the likelihood of breakage along the scored hinge lines due to lane tension are disclosed. The method includes forming score lines with a scoring cylinder across lanes of shingle material just before the lanes are cut into individual cap shingles with a pattern cutter. The scoring cylinder and pattern cutter are controlled so that the score lines are consistently applied along the centerlines of the cap shingles.

摘要: A roofing system including a cap shingle and a method of producing a cap shingle are disclosed. In one embodiment, the cap shingle is formed with a continuous or discontinuous self-sealing adhesive that is applied along a ridgeline direction and can provide high wind resistance, without the use of hand-sealed adhesive application. In an embodiment of the method, one or more layers of a shingle material can be oriented in a machine direction with the self-sealing adhesive applied adjacent side edges of the shingle material to form the cap shingles having self-seal strips and configured to bend in the machine direction for installation of the cap shingles along a ridge of a roof.

摘要: Shingle blanks including a first fold region, a second fold region, a third region, a lower edge and an upper edge are provided. The shingle blank has a length. The first and second fold regions extend substantially across the length of the shingle blank. The second fold region is positioned between the first and third fold regions. A first perforation line is positioned between the second and third fold regions. A second perforation line is positioned between the first and second fold regions. A reinforcement material is positioned over the first perforation line and configured to reinforce the first perforation line. The reinforcement material includes apertures configured to allow an asphalt coating to bleed through the reinforcement material. The first and second perforation lines facilitate folding of the first and second fold regions on top of the third region to form a three layered stack.

摘要: Disclosed is a method of fabricating bitumen impregnated cellulose ridge tiles, each ridge tile having the general shape of a profiled ridge tile plate of cross-section symmetrical about a vertical longitudinal midplane and that includes a downwardly concave central ridge extended laterally on either side by a flat that terminates in a downwardly concave corrugation, the ridge tile further including a series of ribs at each longitudinal end, the panel being in the form of a section member of cross-section that is made up by juxtaposing at least two cross-sections, each identical to the cross-section of the ridge tile plate, with transverse ribs in the vicinity of the longitudinal ends of the panel and on either side of at least one virtual transverse separation line extending between longitudinal panel edges. The panel is cut along a longitudinal line between the juxtaposed ridge tile sections.

摘要: A roof panel includes a planar body having top and bottom edges, with a downturn edge extending therebetween, and an opposing channel edge. The downturn edge overlays a channel edge of an adjacent panel. The bottom edge overlays a top edge of another adjacent panel. A plurality of courses extends between the channel and downturn edges. Each course includes a nesting ridge to receive the downturn edge of an adjacent panel and to position a top surface of the panel flush with adjacent panels. Surface channels and contoured ridges are defined within each course. A drain aperture of the drip edge aligns with an adjacent channel edge to direct material through the drain aperture and onto adjacent panels. A gable member engages an edge when the panel has one or fewer laterally adjacent panels, wherein the gable member is flush with the adjacent planar body.
