At least one of the pair of electrodes includes a core material, a coil section in which a metal wire is wound on the core material in three or more layers, a distal end portion made of a conductor and provided, with respect to the coil section, at an end portion of the core material on a side where the other electrode is disposed, and a rear end portion made of a conductor and provided on the opposite side of the distal end portion with respect to the coil section. The rear end portion includes a first diameter section having a first diameter and a second diameter section having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter and present in a position farther from the coil section than the first diameter section.
Abstract:
A vehicular discharge lamp that emits light by a DC lighting system, the vehicular discharge lamp includes: an outer tube; a light emitting tube disposed in the outer tube and including a light emitting portion and fine tube portions connected to the light emitting portion; cathode-side and anode-side electrodes disposed in the light emitting tube; two lead wires connected to the electrodes; and a metal film or a metal oxide applied on an outer peripheral surface of the fine tube portion on an anode side of the light emitting tube, or the metal wire being wound on the outer peripheral surface. Inert gas having negative pressure is filled in a space outside the light emitting tube in the outer tube, and a negative high-voltage pulse is applied to the anode-side electrode at a time of start-up.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide for large arrays of microcavity plasma devices that can be made inexpensively, and can produce large area but thin displays or lighting sources Interwoven metal wire mesh, such as interwoven Al mesh, consists of two sets of wires which are interwoven in such a way that the two wire sets cross each other, typically at πght angles (90 degrees) although other patterns are also available Fabrication is accomplished with a simple and inexpensive wet chemical etching process The wires in each set are spaced from one another such that the finished mesh forms an array of openings that can be, for example, square, rectangular or diamond-shaped The size of the openings or microcavities is a function of the diameter of the wires in the mesh and the spacing between the wires in the mesh used to form the array of microcavity plasma devices.
Abstract:
A discharge lamp device comprising a high pressure discharge lamp having a discharge space and a pair of main electrodes in an interior of said discharge space, a starting assistance light source adapted to radiate UV radiation towards said discharge space, and a power supply device to light the high pressure discharge lamp and the starting assistance light source, wherein said starting assistance light source contains at least a rare gas for starting and carbon monoxide (CO) as a light emitting substance, and said power supply device is adapted to generate a high starting voltage at a time lighting of said high pressure discharge lamp is started and afterwards switch to a voltage for steady-state lighting, such that said starting assistance light source radiates by means of said high starting voltage but does not radiate by means of said voltage for steady-state lighting.
Abstract:
A high-pressure discharge lamp has an outer envelope (1) in which a discharge vessel (11) is arranged. The discharge vessel encloses a discharge space (13) with an ionizable filling. The discharge vessel has two mutually opposed neck-shaped portions (2,3) through which current supply conductors (4,5) extend to a pair of electrodes (6,7) in the discharge space. A lamp base (8) of electrically insulating material supports the discharge vessel. The lamp base also supports the outer envelope (1). The outer envelope encloses the current supply conductors and is connected to the lamp base in a gas-tight manner. By controlling the atmosphere in the outer envelope, a simplified and compact high-pressure discharge lamp is provided with an accurate positioning of the discharge vessel with respect to the optical axis of the lighting system. The high-pressure discharge lamp can be suitably applied in an assembly with a reflector.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp (1) having a burner (2), which is provided with a starting aid device (30, 32) for improving the starting behavior. Said device is configured according to the invention as a grid (30) encompassing the burner in the region of a ceramic (6) holding the burner (2) and having contact with a power feed (24). Said grid (30) acts as a starting aid and as protection against fragments in case of a burner explosion.
Abstract:
A vehicle discharge lamp is provided with an outer tube, an arc tube disposed within the outer tube, and a pair of electrodes disposed within the arc tube. The arc tube includes a light emitting portion, and a pair of pinch seal portions. Molybdenum foils are sealed in the respective pinch seal portions. Each of the electrodes includes a sealed portion sealed within the pinch seal portion, a projecting portion projecting into the light emitting portion, and a welding portion welded to the molybdenum foil. A concavo-convex part is formed on the sealed portion.
Abstract:
A metal vapor discharge lamp and a lighting fixture are downsized without causing breakage of an outer tube because of optimization of a positional relation among the outer tube (34), an inner tube (32), and an arc tube (40). The metal vapor discharge lamp has the arc tube, the inner tube housing the arc tube, and the outer tube housing the inner tube. The positional relation satisfies the relation of 2×A+B≧1.06. In a cross section of the lamp (the cross section of the arc tube is unshown for convenience), A (mm) represents the shortest distance between the arc tube and the inner tube along a line in a radial direction of the inner tube, and B (mm) represents a distance between the inner tube and the outer tube on a line segment C that is extension of the line.
