Abstract: In a pneumatic tire, center land portions include a circumferential narrow groove extending in the tire circumferential direction so as to partition the center land portions in a tire width direction; a plurality of lug grooves disposed in each region of each of the center land portions partitioned by the circumferential narrow groove, extending in the tire width direction, so as to partition each of the regions of the center land portions in the tire circumferential direction; and a plurality of blocks partitioned by the circumferential narrow groove and the plurality of lug grooves. Blocks of the center land portions include one open sipe extending in the tire width direction so as to partition the blocks in the tire circumferential direction, and three or more closed sipes disposed in each of the regions of each of the blocks partitioned by the open sipe.

Abstract: A tire, wherein the tread has a number of raised blocks divided into a number of elements by sipes crosswise to a motion direction of the tire. Each element has at least a first lateral surface separated by a sipe from a second lateral surface of an adjacent element and having at least one first portion sloping with respect to the motion direction and facing a second portion of the second surface. Abstract: A heavy duty tire comprises a tread portion provided with four or five circumferential grooves so as to axially divide the tread portion into five or six rib portions. The five or six rib portions are a pair of shoulder rib portions each provided with shoulder lateral groove, and three or four crown rib portions each provided with crown lateral grooves. The crown lateral grooves extend across the entire width of the crown rib portion. The shoulder lateral grooves extend axially outwardly from an axially inner edge of the shoulder rib portion so as to terminate at an axial distance of from 78 to 88% of the axial width of the shoulder rib portion from the above-mentioned axially inner edge. The depth of the circumferential grooves is 15 to 20 mm. The depth of the crown lateral grooves is 9 to 30% of the depth of the circumferential grooves. The depth of the shoulder lateral grooves is 9 to 25% of the depth of the circumferential grooves. The tread width TW is in a range of 0.78 to 0.87 times the cross sectional width SW of the tire.

Abstract: A vehicle wheel tire includes a tire tread having a circumferential center tread region in which block elements are arranged in a symmetric pattern on opposite sides of a tire circumferential equatorial centerplane. The tread has one or more circumferential grooves bounded by edges of opposing block elements, pairs of opposed block elements having a block edge facing the groove and an array of saw-teeth formed along the groove-facing edge of opposed block elements inclined in the radial direction. The saw-teeth on a block edge of one opposed block element incline in a direction opposite to the inclination direction of saw-teeth on opposite opposed block element. A block element on the center tread region side of the groove has multiple circumferentially spaced apart and laterally extending sipes extending across the block element. The sipes extend to and align with the array of saw-teeth along the groove-facing edge of the block element.

Abstract: A vehicle wheel tire center tread region has a repeating circumferential array of first substantially V-shaped grooves positioned on the centerplane, each first V-shaped groove having divergent first groove side arms extending in a first circumferential direction, and a repeating circumferential array of second substantially V-shaped grooves positioned on the centerplane and having divergent second groove side arms extending in a second circumferential direction opposite to the first circumferential direction. Each first V-shaped groove is overlapped by multiple oppositely directed second V-shaped grooves. The first V-shaped groove arms have a varying lengthwise depth that varies between about 2 and 7 millimeters from a shallower depth proximate to a vertex arm region to an increased depth at a medial arm region to a decreased depth at a terminal arm region. The first V-shaped groove arms further vary in width as well as depth from a narrower vertex arm region to a wider medial arm region to a narrow terminal arm region so that the volume of the groove arms per length unit is substantially constant in the medial arm region.
