    Abstract: A train control system minimizes in-train forces in a train with a hybrid consist including a diesel-electric locomotive and a battery electric locomotive. The train control system includes a virtual in-train forces modeling engine configured to simulate in-train forces and train operational characteristics using physics-based equations, kinematic or dynamic modeling of behavior of the train or components of the train when the train is accelerating, and inputs derived from stored historical contextual data characteristic of the train, and a virtual in-train forces model database configured to store in-train forces models. Each of the in-train forces models includes a mapping between combinations of the stored historical contextual data and corresponding simulated in-train forces and train operational characteristics that occur when the consist is changing speed. An energy management system determines an easing function of tractive effort vs. time that will minimize the in-train forces created by changes in tractive effort responsive to power notch changes in a diesel-electric locomotive, and commands execution of the easing function by a battery electric locomotive based at least in part on an in-train forces model with simulated in-train forces and train operational characteristics that fall within a predetermined acceptable range of values.

    Abstract: A rail-mounted rail processing machine has at least one traction motor and with at least one working unit for processing tracks, a permanent energy source, an electrical energy storage and a current collector. The components are connected to a common direct current network via power converters. In order to create a rail-mounted rail processing machine that allows low-maintenance and environmentally friendly operation of working aggregates with strongly varying peak loads without having to accept losses in the processing quality, the permanent energy source is a fuel cell which feeds at least one base load of the working unit into the direct current network via one of the power converters. To cover peak loads of at least the working unit, buffer energy of the electrical energy storage acting as a buffer store is feedable into the direct current network via an associated one of the power converters.

    Abstract: Provided is a collected current monitoring device enabling an analysis of collected current in each current collector while allowing a reduced equipment cost. The collected current monitoring device of the present disclosure is installed in a railroad vehicle including current collectors, main transformers, and main converters. The collected current monitoring device includes: a supply current sensor configured to measure a current supplied to a freely-selected one of the main transformers, at least one current-sensor-between-current-collectors disposed in each communication path connecting two adjacent ones of the current collectors and configured to measure a current flowing in the communication path, and a processor configured to calculate a current flowing in each of the current collectors based on the current measured by the supply current sensor and the current measured by the at least one current-sensor-between-current-collectors, and on a distribution ratio of the currents supplied to the main transformers.
