    摘要: A sealing structure is disposed between a metal-casting ingot mold bottom portion and a bottom plate to prevent the leakage of molten steel between the mold and plate. A clay rope disposed in a closed configuration corresponding to the bottom of the ingot mold is affixed to the cardboard sheet with an adhesive system. Overlapping portions of the cardboard sheet are grasped to position the clay rope directly under the ingot mold, and the mold is lowered onto the bottom plate. Hot glue (or pressure sensitive adhesive tape and/or white glue) holds the clay rope on the cardboard sheet. The clay rope is offset at a central portion of the sheet to allow folding of the sheet for transport.

    摘要: A rotary device for dispersing a gas in molten metal, for example argon in molten aluminium, contained in a vessel, comprises a hollow shaft and a hollow rotor fixedly attached to the shaft, the rotor having a plurality of vanes each extending from the shaft, or a location adjacent the shaft, towards the periphery of the rotor whereby the hollow interior of the rotor is divided into a plurality of compartments, at least one aperture in the top or bottom of the rotor adjacent the shaft and at least one aperture in the peripheral surface of the rotor such that when the rotor rotates molten metal can enter each of the compartments through the aperture or apertures in the top or bottom, and flow outwardly through the peripheral aperture or apertures and at least one duct for the passage of the gas extending from the hollow interior of the shaft to each of said compartments. The gas and molten metal are mixed together within the rotor and on emerging from the rotor the gas is dispersed throughout the body of the molten metal as a stream of very small bubbles.

    摘要: A seal between an ingot mould and a base plate or between a head-box and an ingot mould is formed from a pack of flat, flexible strips, for example, of cardboard or aluminium interlinked at spaced intervals along the strips. The joints between any one strip and an adjacent strip next to one face thereof are staggered in relation to the joints between the one strip and the adjacent strip next to the other face thereof. The pack is expanded lengthwise to separate the strips where they are unjoined and form generally hexagon shaped cells and is then placed on the base plate with the longitudinal edges of the strips of the pack on the base plate. The expanded pack is arranged lengthwise into a closed figure corresponding to the shape of the ingot mould. The ingot mould is then placed on top of the expanded pack which is crushed between the ingot mould and the base plate to form the required seal. A head-box seal is similarly made between the top face of the ingot mould and the head-box.
