    摘要: A phase-change optical storage medium includes a recording layer that has an alloy of Ge—Sb—In—Sn, as a main component in the materials that constitute the recording layer. Composition ratios of Ge, Sb, In and Sn in the alloy satisfy ranges 0.08≦a≦0.20, 0.60≦b≦0.80, 0.05≦c≦0.20, and 0.01≦d≦0.15, where “a”, “b”, “c” and “d” are the composition ratios of Ge, Sb, In and Sn, respectively, at a +b+c+d=1. A percentage of the alloy in the materials that constitute the recording layer may be 50% or higher.

    摘要: Errors in a first data signal of a first error correction code system in a reproduced signal are corrected to get first correction-resultant data. Errors in a second data signal of a second error correction code system in the reproduced signal are corrected to get second correction-resultant data. All address information pieces in the second correction-resultant data for every error correction block are subjected to error checks. When at least one of all the address information pieces is correct, a descramble initial value is set in response to the correct address information piece. When all the address information pieces are erroneous, a correct address information piece is estimated from an address information piece associated with a previous error correction block and the descramble initial value is set in response to the estimated correct address information piece. The first correction-resultant data are descrambled in response to the descramble initial value.

    摘要: An input two-dimensional image is divided into equal-size blocks. MIP maps with different resolutions are generated in response to each of the blocks. A memory stores data representative of the MIP maps for each of the blocks. Polygon data represent conditions of a polygon and also a correspondence between the polygon and positions of pixels of a two-dimensional image to be applied to the polygon. On the basis of the polygon data, at least one is selected from the MIP maps represented by the data in the memory as a desired MIP map on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Data representative of the desired MIP map are read from the memory. Calculation is made as to a color intensity of each pixel in a final image in which the desired MIP map is applied to the polygon on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Data representative of each calculated pixel color intensity are outputted.

The first data use history information represents a starting time and an ending time of every use of data. The first data use history information is sent toward an external apparatus. Second data use history information is received from the external apparatus. Calculation is made as to first data use terms between the starting times and the ending times represented by the first data use history information. Calculation is made as to second data use terms between starting times and ending times represented by the second data use history information. Multiple apparatus use notice information is generated when at least one of the calculated first data use terms and at least one of the calculated second data use terms overlap each other.
