摘要： Polyester polyols, processes for making them, and applications for the polyols are disclosed. Some of the polyols comprise recurring units from a digested thermoplastic polyester (e.g., recycled polyethylene terephthalate), a diol, an optional hydrophobe, and a clarifier. The clarifier, which in some cases is a bisphenol, bisphenol alkoxylate, bisphenol polycarbonate, sulfonyl diphenol, or sulfonyl diphenol alkoxylate, helps the polyol remain clear for weeks or months after its preparation. In some aspects, the clarifier is a monophenol, bisphenol, or poly-phenol having two or more phenylene rings wherein at least two of the phenylene rings lack a common molecular axis. The clarifier may also be an alkylated phenol, an epoxy resin, an epoxy novolac resin, a diphenylmethane, or a tris(aryloxy)phosphate. The polyols are valuable for formulating a variety of polyurethanes and related products—including polyurethane dispersions, flexible and rigid foams, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers—and they provide a sustainable alternative to bio- or petrochemical-based polyols.

摘要： Detergent compositions comprising one or more surfactants and a polyetheramine composition are disclosed. The polyetheramine composition comprises a compound having a polyglycerol core and an aminoalkyl group or an oxidized aminoalkyl group that is bonded directly or indirectly to each available oxygen of the polyglycerol core. Optionally, oxyalkylene groups link available oxygens of the polyglycerol core to the aminoalkyl or oxidized aminoalkyl groups. Methods for laundering textile articles and other cleaning methods using the detergent compositions are also disclosed. The polyetheramines can use diglycerol, a convenient plant-based starter. Laundry detergents comprising the polyetheramines provide enhanced cold-water cleaning performance for greasy or oily stains compared with similar detergents formulated without the polyetheramines.

摘要： Agricultural compositions having reduced aquatic toxicity are disclosed. The compositions comprise an agricultural active, a monounsaturated C10-C12 fatty amine ethoxylate, and optionally water. The compositions may further comprise an auxiliary surfactant, a solvent, or both. In certain preferred aspects, the agricultural active is a glyphosate salt. Agricultural compositions comprising a monounsaturated C10-C12 fatty amine ethoxylate have good herbicidal efficacy. Unexpectedly, the monounsaturated C10-C12 fatty amine ethoxylates have reduced aquatic toxicity when compared with their saturated analogs.

摘要： Methods for making efficient use of steam in a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) process for recovering heavy oils from tar sands and similar petroleum deposits are disclosed. The methods utilize a surfactant to generate steam foam in ways that maximize efficient use of steam. In some aspects, steam foam is used in water layers or gas caps that reside above steam chambers to prevent loss of steam from the steam chamber. The predominant use of relatively dry steam in SAGD processes makes it challenging to find ways to introduce surfactants and generate steam foam. However, decreasing the mobility of the steam by converting at least some of it to foam allows the wellbore and steam chambers above the injection site to be more fully developed, provides for more effective heat transfer to the heavy oil and rock, improves production, and allows recovery of the heavy oil with a minimum amount of steam usage.
