Abstract: An improved optical detection unit for an assay device, such as a lateral flow device, for the quantitative determination of the concentration of an analyte in a liquid sample, and an assay device comprising the same. The detection unit comprises an organic light emitting diode (OLED) emitter that has an emission spectrum E within the wavelength range from λ1 to λ2, and an organic photodiode detector (OPD) that has a light detection spectrum S within the wavelength range from λ1 to λ2. The detection unit has a test region that comprises a light absorbing component that has an absorbance spectrum A within the wavelength range from λ1 to λ2. The test region is positioned adjacent to the emitter and the detector to form an optical pathway from the light emitting diode to the photodiode through at least a portion of the test region. Formula M defines a relationship between E, S and A, and M is less than about 0.4.

Abstract: An organic light-emitting device comprising an anode (101), a cathode (105) and an homogeneous organic light-emitting layer (103) between the anode and the cathode wherein: the light-emitting layer comprises a first light-emitting material mixed with an inert material; the inert material has a HOMO level (HOMOIM) that is further from vacuum than a HOMO level (HOMOLEM) of the first light-emitting material and a LUMO level (LUMOIM) that is closer to vacuum than a LUMO level(LUMOLEM) of the first light-emitting material; and the inert material comprises up to 25 weight % of the light-emitting layer.

Abstract: A method of forming a n-doped semiconductor layer wherein a film comprising an organic semiconductor and an n-dopant reagent is irradiated by light having a wavelength that is within an absorption range of the organic semiconductor, and wherein an absorption maximum wavelength of the n-dopant precursor is shorter than any peak wavelength of the light. The n-doped semiconductor layer may be an electron-injection layer of an organic light-emitting device.

The phosphorescent compound of formula (I) may be mixed with the polymer or may be covalently bound thereto. The composition may be used in the light-emitting layer of an organic light-emitting device.
