The pixel values for a block within a first set of blocks may be predicted using reconstructed values from only neighboring macroblocks. The pixel values for a block within another set of blocks may be subsequently predicted using reconstructed values from blocks in previously reconstructed sets of blocks and/or reconstructed values from neighboring macroblocks. The pixel values for blocks within a set of blocks may be predicted in parallel.
