    Abstract: A fiber-optic adapter with enhanced alignment is described. The adapter has two opposing housing halves and two opposing floating connector latches. Each housing half has a channel. The channels are configured to align when the two housing halves are secured together. The channels of the housing halves also have pockets which are configured to utilize a clearance fit, allowing the connector latches to float when the housing halves are secured together.

    Abstract: A shuttered adapter is described that includes a shuttered housing, a shutter sub-assembly frame contained within the housing, a pair of shutter doors hingedly secured to the shutter sub-assembly frame, and a door spring configured to push the shutter doors outward from the shutter sub-assembly frame and away from each other. The shuttered housing can have a separable sleeve retention insert which allows a ledge to be molded inside the shuttered housing. The ledge can be configured to abut the front lower surface of the shuttered doors when the doors are pushed outward from the shutter sub-assembly frame.
