摘要： A link chain has alternating first and second links which are articulately connected to each other by universal joints. Each first link carries a gripper with a fixed jaw and a second jaw pivotable between first and second end positions through a dead-center intermediate position. Springs are provided to permanently bias each second jaw to either of the two end positions, and each second jaw is connected with a follower which can track a set of cams at two spaced-apart stations to move the second jaw between its end positions. Each link of the chain carries two shafts for pairs of roller followers which track the lateral edge faces of two flanges of an elongated guide rail having an H-shaped cross-sectional outline. The guide rail is bent and/or twisted, if necessary, to establish a helical, arcuate, looped and/or other complex path for advancement of successive links between the two stations. An additional follower of each link tracks the one or the other flange at one side of the web which connects the flanges of the rail to each other.

摘要： A housing assembly of a sliding closure unit for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a metallurgical vessel includes a housing member mounted on the metallurgical vessel adjacent an outlet thereof, and a cover member mounted on the housing member by joints to enable the cover member to pivot with respect to the housing member and to be removable therefrom. The joints include joint bases on at least four sides of each of the housing and cover members and including, for each of the housing and cover members, first and second oppositely spaced sides with the joint bases thereof defining parallel first and second joint axes, respectively, and third and fourth oppositely spaced sides with the joint bases thereof defining parallel third and fourth axes, respectively. The joint bases on each side of the cover member face joint bases of a respective side of the housing member. The joints include attachment structure for selective attachment to the joint bases of the first and second sides of the housing and cover members or to the third and fourth sides of the housing and cover members, thereby to pivotally and removably connect the cover member to the housing member.

摘要： A perfect binder wherein a horizontal table defines an endless oval track for a series of articulately connected tongs each of which has a fixed jaw and a pivotable jaw. The pivotable jaws are articulately connected to discrete levers each of which is pivotable between a first end position in which the work-engaging portions of the jaws cooperate to clamp a stack of sheets between them, and a second end position in which the work-engaging portion of the pivotable jaw is remote from the work-engaging portion of the fixed jaw. Coil springs are provided to urge the levers to either of their end positions. A first fixed cam is provided along the track to pivot the levers to their operative positions before the freshly inserted stacks reach the first treating station, and a second cam is provided adjacent a further portion of the track to pivot the levers to the other end positions in which the treated stacks of sheets can be released or withdrawn. The pivotable jaws of the tongs are mounted on the respective frames for pivotal movement about horizontal axes which are parallel to straight stretches of the endless track. The book-engaging portions are disposed at the lower ends of the jaws.

摘要： Apparatus for temporary storage of partially overlapping paper sheets has a first rotor driven by a first variable-speed motor and a second rotor driven by a second variable-speed motor. The first and second ends of an elastic band are connected to the respective rotors and a conveyor system delivers successive sheets onto the band ahead of the location where the unconvoluted portion of the band merges into the outermost convolution when the first rotor is driven in a direction to collect the band. The radius of the growing roll of sheets and convolutions of the band on the first rotor is monitored by a first detector which transmits corresponding signals to a signal processing circuit further receiving signals which denote the speed of the conveyor system. Such signals are processed to form a third signal denoting the desired angular speed of the roll on the first rotor, and the third signal is compared with a fourth signal which denotes the actual angular speed of the first rotor. The motor for the first rotor is adjusted when the angular speed of the roll deviates from the desired speed as denoted by the third signal.

摘要： A method of screening half-tone picture themes, in which the gray tones of the half-tone picture theme are reproduced by changes in the structural width of a basic screen structure having any desired form. The assignment of a gray tone area of the half-tone picture theme to the screen structure width reproducing this gray tone area may be selectively determined. In a photographic version of the inventive method (FIG. 1), a basic screen structure 1 of any form is prepared and used to produce broadening screen structures as negative films 9,11. The same number of tone separations 20,22 is produced as negative films from the picture theme 13 to be screened, each of which tone separations reproduces a certain gray tone area of the half-tone picture theme which can be adjusted by the exposure time. Tone separations 22,20 are consecutively exposed onto a line material 24 with the broadening screen structures 9,11 respectively assigned to them, the line material then reproducing the screened picture theme in such a way that the gray tone parts determined by the tone separation are reproduced locally by the screen structure width assigned to it. There are several photographic and EDP/scanner/laser variants of this method suitable for screening half-tone picture themes, producing screened printing originals and printing data carriers with this kind of screened picture theme.
