摘要: The present invention has an object to provide a Mach-Zehnder optical modulator with the excellent productivity and reliability, which can obtain a favorable optical response characteristic even if a high frequency electric signal is applied to a signal electrode. To this end, the present optical modulator is configured such that, in a Mach-Zehnder optical modulator in which an optical waveguide and a coplanar electrode are formed on a surface of a substrate having an electro-optic effect, floating electrodes formed using a conducting material, are provided on side faces along parallel waveguides, among side faces substantially perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. Thus, even when a high frequency electric signal is applied to the signal electrode, a phenomenon is suppressed in which a particular frequency resonates within the substrate, and an occurrence of dip in a particular frequency is avoided.

摘要: An object of the invention is to provide a Mach-Zehnder type optical modulator that can reduce wavelength chirp occurring in a modulated light, and also can reduce an optical loss with a small sized configuration. To this end, according to the present Mach-Zehnder type optical modulator, in a configuration where optical waveguides and a coplanar electrode are formed on a substrate having an electro-optical effect, a polarization inversed region is formed in a part of an interaction portion of the substrate, and a signal electrode is arranged above one of parallel waveguides in a polarization inversed region and is arranged above the other parallel waveguide in a non-inversed region. Furthermore, a surface area of the substrate positioned on both sides of each of the parallel waveguides is lowered to provide a ridge structure section, and a buffer layer is formed on a ridge side face thereof.

摘要: The invention provides an optical modulator module by which a dip appearing in a frequency characteristic of a microwave from a DC component to a high-frequency component can be reduced while maintaining the mechanical strength and facilitating handling of a substrate and besides securing the long-term reliability without processing the substrate itself. The optical modulator module includes a substrate, an optical modulator including an optical waveguide, a signal electrode, and a ground electrode, and a housing in and to which the optical modulator is accommodated and secured. The shape of a longitudinal section of the other portion of the optical modulator module than the substrate is asymmetrical with respect to a perpendicular line with which the portion of the signal electrode which extends in parallel to the optical waveguide is bisected in the longitudinal direction.

摘要: The invention provides an optical modulator which suppresses the loss of a microwave which advances through an electrode and of light which propagates in a waveguide and makes the losses in individual arm waveguides substantially equal to each other to suppress the deterioration of the extinction coefficient to improve the transmission quality. The optical modulator includes a substrate having an electro-optical effect and having a ridge, first and second grooves and first and second banks formed thereon, a Mach-Zehnder optical waveguide, an electrode, and first and second recesses formed at symmetrical positions with respect to the ridge on the first and second banks, respectively. The optical modulator is applied, for example, to a transmission side apparatus for a long distance optical transmission system.

摘要: A handheld engine-driven cutter is provided with a disk blade and a four-stroke engine that drives the disk blade. By employing the four-stroke engine, exhaustion of unburned gas and fuel consumption can be reduced. The engine cutter is further provided with a filter through which air provided to the four-stroke engine passes, a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter, and a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor. The filter and the carburetor are arranged to align on a straight line along a direction of flow of the air passing through the filter and the carburetor.

摘要: The disclosed reactor has a case and a cylindrical molded coil assembly which is disposed inside of the case and which is formed by covering a coil with a resin, wherein the coil assembly is sealed by an iron powder mixed resin to which iron powder has been admixed. The reactor has a pillar provided as a single body with the case, and one or multiple ring-shaped core members. The ring-shaped core members are disposed outside the outer surface of the pillar such that the pillar is inserted inside the inner surface of said ring-shaped core members, and the assembly coil is disposed outside the outer surface of the ring-shaped core members such that the ring-shaped core members are inserted inside the inner surface of said coil assembly. The ring-shaped core members are sealed by means of the aforementioned iron powder-mixed resin.

摘要: A printed circuit board (PCB) has a connection ground pattern and a wiring ground pattern. The connection ground pattern is a pattern for soldered connection formed on a first wiring layer. The wiring ground pattern is formed to be spaced from the connection ground pattern on the first wiring layer. The connection ground pattern and the wiring ground pattern are electrically coupled via a second wiring layer. When the wiring ground pattern is covered with an insulating layer, such as a solder resist, even if the position of an end of the insulating layer varies among wiring ground patterns, an influence on an exposed area of the connection ground pattern is eliminated.
