A mobile communication system is provided for increasing the capacity for personal stations and ensuring a radio channel for use with a micro cellular system irrespective of the environment in which the system is installed. In the mobile communication system which allows the coexistence of a cellular automobile telephone system and a micro cellular system, communications in the cellular automobile telephone systems and the micro cellular systems are performed in a digital form, and a personal station accessing to each of these systems is connected thereto by using a time-division multiplex access mode or a code division multiplex access mode. Since the time-division multiplex access mode or code division multiplex access mode is used, a radio channel at the same frequency can be used by a plurality of personal stations. Thus, the capacity of the system can be increased for personal stations without extending a used frequency band.

A mobile unit communication system comprises: mobile units; a TDMA base station for transmitting and receiving a TDMA signal having a first frame to/from mobile units within a service area thereof in a TDMA/TDD manner; and a CDMA base station adjacent to the TDMA base station, for transmitting and receiving a CDMA signal having a second frame to/from mobile units in a CDMA/TDD manner, at least one of these base stations having a frame synchronizing circuit for detecting a phase between the first and second frames and synchronizing the first and second frames according to the detected phase. Each mobile unit has a first circuit for communicating with the TDMA base station in a TDMA mode; and a second circuit for communicating with the CDMA base station in a CDMA mode. First and second frames have the same length and are synchronized to eliminate the necessity of synchronizing operation when the mobile unit moves to the other service area. A unique word attached to a framed data is commonly defined between the TDMA and CDMA signals, so that a unique word detection circuit can be used commonly. The TDMA and CDMA signals have the same frequency band, so that the antenna portion can be used commonly. The TDMA and CDMA signals have the same amount of data per channel in a frame, so that modulation and demodulation circuits can be used commonly.

A precursor pitch for the production of carton fibers is obtained by heat-treating a carbonaceous pitch in the form of a thin film having a thickness not larger than 5 mm at a temperature in the range of 250.degree. to 390.degree. C. and under a reduced pressure not higher than 100 mmHg. By melt-spinning this precursor pitch and subjecting the resultant pitch fiber to infusiblization and carbonization and, if required, to subsequent graphitization, there is obtained a high quality carbon fiber.

A process for the production of carbon fibers comprising heat treating a starting material, melt spinning the resulting precursor pitch, infusibilizing the pitch fibers and carbonizing or graphitizing the infusibilized pitch fibers, characterized in that the starting pitch is obtained by heat treating coal tar and/or coal liquefaction pitch at a specific temperature and a specific hydrogen pressure or by mixing coal tar and/or coal liquefaction tar with at least one nucleus-hydrogenated hydrocarbon of 2-3 rings in a specific mixing ratio and then heat treating the resulting mixture at a specific temperature and a specific pressure. In one embodiment, this invention relates to the starting pitch and carbon fibers obtained by said process.

When the color tone of the surface of the resin layer possessing conductivity is specified with L*a*b* color system, L* is 60 or lower, a* is −1.0 to 1.0, and b* is −1.0 to 3.0.
