Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to communicating using dynamic uplink and downlink transmission time interval (TTI) switching in a wireless network. A notification can be received from a network entity of switching a configurable TTI from downlink communications to uplink communications. The configurable TTI can be one of a plurality of TTIs in a frame structure that allows dynamic switching of configurable TTIs between downlink and uplink communications within a frame. Additionally, uplink communications can be transmitted to the network entity during the configurable TTI based at least in part on the notification.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication in a system that supports enhanced carrier aggregation (eCA). An eCA configuration with a large number of component carriers (CCs) may include CCs grouped into channel state information (CSI) reporting groups. Channel state reports for the CCs in each group may be reported together. In some cases, individual CC reports may be multiplexed into a single report, and in other cases a single channel state report may contain information related to each CC in the group. The combined reports may be transmitted over an uplink control channel or an uplink data channel, or both. Collisions between reports may be resolved based on the reporting type of the groups or the serving cell indices of the CCs in the group.

Abstract: Techniques for adjusting a contention window (CW) for transmissions in a shared radio frequency spectrum band may include identifying a number of nodes attempting to transmit using a channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band and determining a target CW based on the number of nodes attempting to transmit. A new CW value may then be determined based on a prior CW value and the target CW value, and a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure (e.g., a clear channel assessment (CCA)) to access the channel of the shared radio frequency spectrum band may be performed to access the channel.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes receiving a primary synchronization signal (PSS) from a base station over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The PSS may be received on adjacent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of a first subframe of a downlink transmission. A user equipment (UE) may be synchronized with the base station based at least in part on the received PSS. A second method includes receiving a channel usage indicator over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and determining at least one OFDM symbol to monitor based on a time associated with the received channel usage indicator. A PSS may then be received from a base station over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the determined at least one OFDM symbol, and a UE may be synchronized with the base station based at least in part on the received PSS.

Abstract: Base stations (such as small cells) may support active and dormant states. To facilitate state transitions, these cells may transmit discovery signals. The transmission design of both discovery signals and network synchronization signals from small cells should provide for regular periodicity, while supporting the benefit of transitioning between active and dormant states. Disclosed is a method, a computer program product, and an apparatus that determine a first reference signal for at least one of discovery or measurement, and a second reference signal for synchronization, where both the first reference signal and the second reference signal are based on a same type of reference signal.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method may include receiving at a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal, and monitoring the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window to receive a synchronization signal from a base station. A second method may include transmitting an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal; performing a plurality of clear channel assessments (CCAs) on an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window; and transmitting the synchronization signal over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band at a transmission time during the time window. The transmission time may be based at least in part on a result of at least one of the CCAs.
