摘要: A self-reinforced masonry block comprises a main body having opposed substantially parallel stacking surfaces and at least one tubular cell defined therethrough from one stacking surface to the other. At least one confining reinforcement is embedded in the main body to surrounding a corresponding cell. Each confining reinforcement extends substantially entirely along the longitudinal length of its corresponding cell and terminates inwardly of the stacking surfaces. The self-reinforced masonry blocks may be used in construction of a grout-filled, vertically reinforced masonry block wall, with the self-reinforced masonry blocks being used for those portions of the wall where the grouted cells are prone to crushing due to high levels of compressive stress, and conventional unreinforced masonry blocks being used for other portions of the wall. A method for making the self-reinforced masonry blocks is also described.

摘要: Systems and methods for securely attaching a screen or mesh to a pre-stressed or precast concrete wall panel are provided. A screen or mesh is embedded in a concrete form when the concrete form is poured. Portions of the concrete form can be stripped and the wall panel can be easily removed from the form without binding on the form itself and without requiring removal of the portion of the form which creates the window opening.

摘要: Provided are a manhole cover and a method for manufacturing same, wherein the manhole cover maintains a strength and weight the same as those of conventional manhole covers made of cast iron, eliminates the risk of theft, and achieves improved corrosion resistance and sealing properties. The manhole cover comprises: a base unit made of composite materials having compositions containing 12 to 18 wt % of glass fiber, 17 to 23 wt % of a polyester resin, with the remainder being calcium carbonate (CaCO3), wherein the base unit is mounted on the manhole such that an upper portion of the base unit is exposed aboveground; and a metal reinforcement unit which is uniformly distributed within the base unit to reinforce the base unit and increase weight and strength of the base unit.

摘要: A first load bearing component is adapted to provide load bearing strength when the modular building block is used in a building panel. A second load bearing component is coupled to the first load bearing component via a first coupling arrangement and is adapted to provide load bearing strength when the modular building block is used in the building panel. A building services component is positioned between the first load bearing component and the second load bearing component for providing a conduit for at least one building service. The first and second load bearing components and the building services component are adapted to be configurable in a plurality of positions relative to the other.

摘要: A fire resistant siding system made up of combinations of preformed pumice concrete pieces that can be fastened to a typical internal building support structure through the use of traditional fastening materials such as nails or screws. These pumice concrete pieces are made of a concrete mixture that allows these items to be significantly lighter than other concrete products of a similar size, and can therefore be easily transported and connected to an internal building structure such as the framing studs of a house or other structure. These devices have a high resistivity to fire and are highly insulative, thus, providing fire protection to the occupants and items within a structure encased in these materials, as well as reducing the heating and cooling costs of these structures.

摘要: Security vault panels and their method of manufacture are disclosed. Specifically, the invention comprises improved panels for manufacturing security vaults, with each panel comprising (a) a rectangular metal mold having opposing metal end caps and opposing metal side rails and (b) a concrete slab disposed within the rectangular mold and permanently affixed thereto, the concrete slab having an exterior face and an interior face substantially uncovered by the mold. At least one of the metal side rails is configured to engage a complementarily configured metal side rail of an adjacent panel. Three different configurations of metal side rails are disclosed for fabricating panels for subsequent installation as part of a wall, floor, or roof of the security vault.

摘要: A method is disclosed for making a molded refractory article comprising the steps of providing a mold including a molding pattern, the mold and molding pattern defining a mold cavity; filling the mold cavity around the molding pattern with a mixture comprising refractory particles and a heat fugitive binder; inserting a plurality of elements of relatively high melting point material into the mixture to displace a portion of the mixture; curing the mixture; separating the mold and molding pattern from the cured mixture; and sintering the combination of the cured mixture and mixture displacing elements to provide a reinforced molded refractory article. The mixture displacing elements preferably comprise a plurality of parallel tool steel rods. Also disclosed is an apparatus for molding the aforedescribed reinforced refractory article.
