摘要： A two-position manual safety arrangement for an automatic pistol which pistol has a pivotal firing pin, a hammer blocking means, a trigger bar, a sear rotated by the pin blocking means and a configured slide. The safety arrangement includes a safety lever body rotatably mounted in the slide. The lever body carries first means to prevent the hammer from striking the firing pin in the first safety position and second means for preventing striking of the firing pin in the second safety position. The firing pin blocking means also blocks the firing pin in the second position.

摘要： A hammer assembly for a side hammer percussion lock is comprised of a hammer which is displaceable relative to the firearm from its normal operative position to a safety position where it cannot be brought into contact with a percussion cap placed on the firearm. In one embodiment of the invention the hammer is displaced by rotating it about an axis which is perpendicular to the axis about which the hammer is rotated between its cocked and firing positions. In another embodiment of the invention the hammer is displaced to its safety position by being slidably translated relative to the firearm. In the rotating embodiment, detents are provided for fixing the hammer against inadvertent movement from its desired position. In the sliding embodiment a lock is provided to prevent movement of the hammer from either its normal or safety position without first releasing the lock. A cam is provided in both embodiments to lift the hammer slightly off of the percussion cap when it is moved out of its normal position.

摘要： The specification discloses a firearm safety kit for disabling a firearm. The kit includes a frangible strap to be secured about the firearm to prevent a movable member, such as the hammer, from moving as required to fire the firearm. Application of predetermined pressure breaks the strap and enables the firearm to be fired. In another aspect for bolt-action firearms, the safety kit includes an insert to be positioned between the bolt and chamber and held in position by the frangible strap. A firearm with the safety apparatus installed thereon and a method of using the apparatus are also disclosed.

摘要： A firearm having a hammer, firing pin, and trigger, and a movable firing block interposed between the firing pin and the hammer to actuate the firing pin when the hammer falls on it. The firing block is held in position by the trigger only when pressed, and the hammer fails to contact the firing block should it accidentally fall without the trigger being pressed.The hammer upon being cocked pushes the firing block up into firing position. When the trigger is pulled, a firing block stop moves forwardly and prevents the firing block from dropping. The means on the hammer that pushed the firing block up is biassed to retract when the hammer falls, so that the firing action is completely dependent on the trigger.

摘要： An improved firing mechanism for a firearm having an external hammer that is not rotated to its cocked position by the trigger when the trigger is pulled but which rotates the trigger to its ready-to-fire position when the hammer is manually cocked. The improved mechanism comprises a vertically disposed and movable trigger bar pivotally connected to the trigger, the upper end portion of the trigger bar being disposed in front of the hammer and being movable from its lower position to its upper position when the trigger is rotated from its rest position to its readyto-fire position. Trigger bar blocking means engage the upper end of the trigger bar and prevent upward movement of the trigger bar when the hammer is at rest, and hammer blocking means engage a forward facing surface of the hammer and prevent forward movement of the hammer and firing pin against a cartridge in the chamber when the trigger is in its lower position. The upper end portion of the trigger bar is positioned relative to the hammer so that the hammer and firing pin can strike and fire a cartridge in the chamber when the trigger bar is in its upper position.

摘要： Shown in a toggle action recoil operated semiautomatic pistol is a toggle consisting of two inverted channel shaped arms that straddle the bolt with the outer end of one arm pivotally secured to the frame of the pistol and the outer end of the other arm pivotally secured to the bolt. The arms are joined by a link pin fixed within the channel of the rear arm and slidable in a slot in the sides of the front arm. The rear upper shoulder of the bolt is bevelled. After the bolt recoils a short distance defined by the slot and the link pin, the bevel strikes the link pin and cams it upward to fold the toggle arms. A recoil spring restores the bolt and toggle to their original positions.
