Abstract:
A radar level gauge using electromagnetic signals to determine a filling level of a product in a tank, comprising an electronics unit including transceiver circuitry, a signal propagation device, and a directional coupler. The gauge further comprises a wave guiding structure comprising a rod of a dielectric material. A mounting portion of the electronics unit defines an opening and is detachably mountable on the dielectric rod so that the rod extends through the opening and is at least partly surrounded by the opening. The mounting portion is further arranged to secure the circuitry portion relative the rod so that the directional coupler is in a position to couple signals between the transceiver circuitry and the rod.The radar level gauge according to the present invention facilitates replacement of an electronics unit, e.g. in case of malfunction or upgrades. At the same time, the dielectric rod enables a very simple, cost-effective and reliable feeding to and from each electronics unit.
Abstract:
A method for ground to air communication includes receiving a first pilot signal on a first wide beam from a first ground base station by a first antenna element covering a first range of azimuth angles from an aircraft. Data is received on a directed data beam from the first ground base station by the first antenna element. A second pilot signal is received on a second wide beam from a second ground base station by a second antenna element covering a second range of azimuth angles different than the first range of azimuth angles. A signal strength of the second pilot signal is compared with a signal strength of the first pilot signal. Data reception is switched from the first antenna element to the second antenna element if the signal strength of the second pilot signal is greater than the signal strength of the first pilot signal.
Abstract:
Provided is a ultra-wideband dual linear polarized wave waveguide antenna for communication having a wideband matching structure in which the inner peripheral surface of the first polarized wave filtering unit or the second polarized wave filtering unit, which filters a first polarized wave or a second polarized wave entering the dual linear polarized wave waveguide antenna and orthogonal to each other, are tapered such that a diameter of the inner peripheral surface becomes smaller, and having an extended path so as to adjust the first polarized wave and the second polarized wave so that they are in-phase. By doing so, the ultra-wideband dual linear polarized wave waveguide antenna is capable of both receiving and transmitting and thus can be used for communication, and can adjust skew angles without being mechanically rotated.
Abstract:
An improved waveguide feed includes a ridged waveguide section and a feed section. The ridged waveguide section includes a wall structure and spaced-apart opposing ridges disposed on an internal surface of the wall structure, with the spaced-apart opposing ridges extending along a major axis of the wall structure. The feed section is coupled to the ridged waveguide section, and includes an extension of only a portion of the wall structure of the ridged waveguide section, and an extension of the spaced-apart opposing ridges disposed on an internal surface of the extended wall structure of the feed section.
Abstract:
A system for imaging tissue includes a millimeter wave Quasi-optical backward wave oscillator. Tumorous tissue is detected in a reconstructed image using solvable inverse image reconstruction techniques. In one embodiment, three-dimensional breast imaging is enabled by providing radiation as a focused energy beam over a wide frequency range and at power levels to penetrate breast tissue disposed within dielectric compression plates.
Abstract:
A front feed reflector antenna with a dish reflector has a wave guide is coupled to a proximal end of the dish reflector, projecting into the dish reflector along a longitudinal axis. A dielectric block may be coupled to a distal end of the waveguide and a sub-reflector coupled to a distal end of the dielectric block. A shield is coupled to the periphery of the dish reflector. A subtended angle between the longitudinal axis and a line between the focal point and a distal periphery of the shield is 50 degrees or less.
Abstract:
An antenna device includes a housing having a plurality of printed circuit board (PCB) panels connected together with folded joints therebetween to define a polyhedral shape having a first open end. Each of the PCB panels includes a dielectric substrate and an electrically conductive layer thereon inside of the housing. Wireless communication circuitry is mounted on at least one of the plurality of PCB panels outside the housing, and an antenna feed is connected to the wireless communication circuitry adjacent a second end opposite the first open end of the housing.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a horn antenna apparatus. The horn antenna apparatus includes a substrate; and a silicone antenna part bonded to the substrate and provided with a horn cavity having a radiating aperture part having one portion opened to the outside in a horizontal direction to a bonding surface. In accordance with the embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to easily implement the horn antenna apparatus capable of saving cost and providing the high gain using the photolithography and chemical etching method and to implement the terahertz transmitting and receiving module capable of saving cost and providing the high efficiency using the same.
