Abstract: An interface adapted for high speed data transmission between network elements that decreases signal interference and cross-talk between the wires of a cable used for connecting the network elements. Various connection schemes are used for shielded pairs of wires within a cable used for the interface. The connection schemes may use pins having same or different pin numbers at the two network elements being connected. Shielded pairs carrying data in a common direction may be connected to adjacent sets of pins or to non-adjacent sets of pins. Certain pins at each element may remain unused. Pairs of the shielded pairs within the cable may be cross-connected between the two elements. Shielded pairs may be cross-connected while leaving sets of pins unused.

Abstract: A plug-in module frame has sockets (2) with at least one signal contact (7, 16) each for passing an information signal between the plug-in module frame (1) and a plug-in module (3) mounted at one of the sockets (2). A protocol converter (9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17) having first and second terminals communicates with the plug-in module (3) via its first terminal and signal contact (7, 16) ac-cording to a first protocol and via its second terminal according to a second protocol. Abstract: A network connection system for connecting computer network components, the network connection system including a twisted pair cable having multiple conductors in twisted pairs a cable termination connector affixable at an end of the cable. Abstract: An angled patch panel is provided that is configured to be mounted to a rack or console. The angled patch panel facilitates cable management functions and enhances space utilization at and around the rack/patch panel assembly. The angled patch panel includes first and second patch panel elements that are angularly oriented with respect to each other. The transition from the first patch panel element to the second patch panel element is generally achieved in an apex region. The angled patch panel also includes flange members that extend from the first and second patch panel elements. Each of the flange members define a mounting face and an extension arm that is intermediate the mounting face and the patch panel element. Abstract: A connector includes contacts each having a contact portion, an elastic portion and a fulcrum portion between the contact portion and a connection portion, and a pressure receiving portion; a housing fixing the contacts; and a slider having urging portions pivotally moved between the connection and pressure receiving portions of the contacts to urging the contact portions against the circuit board, thereby achieving reliable connection and miniaturization of the connector. In an aspect, the housing is formed on the side of a board insertion opening with a recessed portion for conducting the board. In another aspect, the contact includes upper and lower contact portions one above the other arranged alternately staggered so as to be connected to a circuit board having contact portions alternately staggered, so that no defective connection occurs, even if the circuit board is inserted erroneously upside down. In a further aspect, the connector further includes locking members having an engaging portion which engages an anchoring portion of the circuit board to prevent the circuit board from being removed. In one aspect, contacts of two kinds are inserted into the housing from opposite sides, respectively so that these contacts of the two kinds are into contact with the contact portions on respective surfaces of the circuit board. In a further aspect, moreover, a plate-shaped piece is provided in opposition to the contact portions of the contacts to prevent the housing from being deformed.

Abstract: An apparatus which provides the ability to charge or power multiple devices from multiple different power sources, and to communicate electronic data to and from one of the devices. The apparatus utilizes simple construction, requiring no active electronics, thereby reducing the cost of production and the reliability of the device. The apparatus employs a single USB connection cable with connectors on both ends and a second power-only cable and connector which is connected to the power wires of the USB cable and thereby is able to power a second portable device from a single USB port. USB master provide sufficient power for two average portable devices without additional circuitry. Moreover, restricting the data path to only one device also eliminates the need for USB hub circuitry. Finally, greater end user flexibility is provided by using a USB male connector as the source of the data and power connection, a USB female connector for the output of the data and power connection, and a standard barrel-type power connector for the power-only output connection. Having two different output connectors ensures that the user will not confuse the two connectors.
