Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to adaptively gather audience information data are disclosed. The disclosed methods and apparatus monitor system factor(s) and select one or more sensors from a plurality of sensors positioned to gather audience measurement data based on the monitored factor(s). Thus, the disclosed methods and apparatus adapt to the conditions they face by selecting an amount and/or type of audience measurement data they gather.
Abstract:
A user (102) hears an audio program being broadcast and can record a sample of the audio. The sample is then conveyed to an analyzing means (106) to determine to which broadcast station the user is listening. The analyzing means monitors many broadcast channels. Thus, characteristics of the audio sample and samples taken from the broadcast channels can be compared to find a match. Broadcast information pertaining to the broadcast channel from which the match was found may then be reported back to the user, combined with an advertisement of a promotion, prize notification, discount offers, and other information specific for a certain radio station for example.
Abstract:
A device configured to receive a request, from a server, to provide frequency code information identifying a frequency code. The frequency code includes frequencies to be emitted by a broadcasting device that presents a first content. The device may generate a code based on the request. The device may receive a second content from the server. The device may store the second content and the code so that the second content is associated with the code. The device may generate the frequency code information based on the code. The device may provide the frequency code information for the frequency code to be emitted by the broadcasting device. The device may receive the code from a listening device that detected the frequency code emitted by the broadcasting device. The device may provide the second content associated with the code to the listening device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to generate and use content-aware watermarks are disclosed herein. An example disclosed method includes detecting a watermark in a first media composition, the watermark encoded with a word present in an audio track of the first media composition, the word audible during playback of the audio track. The example method also includes retrieving the word from the watermark. The example method also includes determining whether the word retrieved from the watermark matches a keyword, and presenting a second media composition when the word matches the keyword.

Abstract:
Example methods disclosed herein to monitor media presented by a media device include adjusting, with a circuit, an inbound audio signal input to the media device based on (i) a level of an outbound audio signal generated by the media device and (ii) a level of the inbound audio signal to produce an adjusted inbound audio signal. Such disclosed example methods also include combining, with the circuit, the adjusted inbound audio signal with a sampled version of the outbound audio signal to determine a return signal. Such disclosed example methods further include processing the return signal to determine first identification information to identify first presented media having an audio portion corresponding to the outbound audio signal generated by the media device.
Abstract:
A second screen system comprises a first screen that renders a first content comprising watermarks of a first type and watermarks of a second type. The watermarks of the first type are captured by a second screen that reacts to these watermarks. The second screen displays information to a user and receives user input. The second screen also watermarks a second content with watermarks of the second type and renders the second content. A third device captures watermarks of the second type in both the first content and the second content. Since the watermarks embedded by the second screen can depend on the user's actions, the third device can indirectly react to the user's actions.
Abstract:
The present document relates to techniques for authentication of data streams. Specifically, the present document relates to the insertion of identifiers into a data stream, such as a Dolby Pulse, AAC or HE AAC bitstream, and the authentication and verification of the data stream based on such identifiers. A method and system for encoding a data stream comprising a plurality of data frames is described. The method comprises the step of generating a cryptographic value of a number N of successive data frames and configuration information, wherein the configuration information comprises information for rendering the data stream. The method then inserts the cryptographic value into the data stream subsequent to the N successive data frames.

Methods and apparatus to generate and use content-aware watermarks are disclosed herein. In a disclosed example method, media composition data is received and at least one word present in an audio track of the media composition data is selected. The word is then located in a watermark.
