Head recovery devices are disposed as positions avoiding the locus of splattering of ink droplets from the unit heads. The recording head units can record an image across the entire width of a sheet of paper, and it is not necessary to move the recording head units in the paper width direction. Dummy jetting can be conducted at gap regions between two sheets of paper in an image recording section. The plural unit heads are unitized.

    摘要: A pagewidth inkjet printer includes a support assembly. A housing is mounted on the support assembly and has a print medium inlet end and a print medium outlet end. A feed roller assembly is mounted on the support assembly proximate the inlet end to feed a print medium into the housing. A print engine is mounted on the support assembly, downstream of the feed roller assembly to carry out a printing operation on the print medium. An exit roller assembly is mounted on the support assembly proximate the outlet end of the housing. A gas inlet is arranged on the housing to permit drying gas to be introduced into the housing to facilitate drying of the print medium. The exit roller assembly is spaced from the print engine such that sufficient time is provided for the ink to dry as the print medium is displaced from the print engine to the exit roller assembly.

    摘要: A high volume printing assembly includes an array of printers. Each printer includes a housing. Locking fee project beyond the housing on one side. Apertures corresponding to the fee are located on an opposing side of the housing to receive the feet of a neighboring printer. The printers are daisy-chained together by means of serial data-in and data-out ports. A control station is provided to monitor and control the array. The array may be disposed as a column of printers mounted upon a suitable table or alternatively it can also be provided as a row of printers stacked side by side upon a suitable mounting frame. In a preferred embodiment each of the printers is of a high-speed type that includes a pagewidth printhead.

    摘要: A printing device that produces printed pieces of paper having no blank is provided, which can precisely position the print to contents on the back side of the printing paper. A mark (36) is provided in a blank area (38) on the back side of printing paper (3a). A sensor (7) senses the mark (36), whereby the position of a regular-form print area (37) adjacent to the blank area (38) on the printing paper (3a) can be recognized. A thermal head (1a) and a cutter (6) print the printing paper (3a) and cuts the blank area (38) away on the basis of the sense output. Accordingly, it is possible to produce a printed piece of paper having a desired print on the front side and a regular-form print on the back side printed without positional misalignment and without blank in the feed direction, with the mark (36) removed therefrom.

    摘要: A multi-head printer, and a driver therefor, in which the multi-head printer has at least a wide width print mode and a standard width print mode. At least first and second print heads are mounted for lateral reciprocal movement across a support surface for a recording medium, with the first and second print heads being laterally displaced with respect to each other such that both the first and second print heads can print a first lateral print area and such that only the second print head can print a portion of a second and larger lateral print area. In the standard width printing mode, fully or partially overlapped printing in the first lateral print area can be effected by both of the first and second print heads. In the wide width print mode, printing by only the second print head is effected, and not by the first print head. An additional wide print mode may be provided for partially overlapped printing by the first and second print heads, with the second print head printing primarily in the second lateral print area. Based on print head configuration, such as the type and color capability of print heads mounted in the first and second print heads, available print modes are determined, from which one of the available print modes is selected for effecting printout by the printer.
