    摘要: A Bourdon pressure gauge is provided with a direct-coupled electronic and visual readout. Specifically, the electronic and visual readouts are direct-coupled in that they are taken along a common linkage from the Bourdon tube. In addition, they are of comparable accuracy because the electrical readout is taken at a point of relatively small displacement amplification on the commmon linkage whereas the visual readout is taken at a point of substantial displacement amplification. In a preferred embodiment, the Bourdon tube is linked to a pivotally mounted linkage element having a cam head for driving a helicoidal gear. An electrical contact in cooperation with resistor disposed on the pivotally mounted element is used to take a variable resistance electrical readout, and a pointer for taking a visual readout is connected to the helicoidal gear. Circuitry is provided for producing an electrical current proportional to the pressure sensed by the tube, and the visual readout provides a readily accessible check on the accuracy of the electrical readout.

    摘要: A temperature compensation circuit for sensors of physical variables, such as temperature and pressure, employs an effective constant current source that is sensitive to ambient temperature and which has an adjustable thermal slope and an adjustable output at discrete temperatures. The effective constant current source may be connected across the input terminals of a sensor such as a pressure transducer employing strain gages or it may be connected in series with the excitation current of such a transducer. Additionally, the effective constant current source may be connected in the output of a sensor such as a thermocouple that is responsive to temperature changes. When connected to the input of a sensor, the temperature compensation circuit controls the excitation current through the sensor as a function of the ambient temperature of the sensor and compensation circuit. When connected in the output of the sensor, the temperature compensation circuit provides a voltage that is a function of the ambient temperature, which voltage is added to the output of the sensor to compensate for voltage variations due to changes in ambient temperature.

    摘要: A pressure transducer assembly for indicating ambient pressure over a predetermined differential pressure range having a minimum and a maximum and operable over a wide range of absolute pressures. A housing having an interior in fluid communication with ambient pressure surrounds a digital signal generator which is protected from ingressing contaminants. The digital signal generator includes a translatable electrical contact member secured to the working end of a surrounding electrically conductive bellows secured at the remaining end to the housing and a stationary multi-resistor assembly having a staggered pair of rows of spaced contact pads and miniature resistors coupled between selected pads in opposite rows to provide a series resistance network whose resistance depends on the position of the contact element, the pads and resistors being supported on an insulated substrate. The multi-resistor assembly is supported by a conductive rod which is translatable in opposite directions along the axis of the housing by a simple adjustment mechanism so that the fixed differential pressure operating range may be shifted over a wide range of absolute pressures. A plurality of transducers are mounted in a sheathed telephone feed cable at regularly spaced positions therealong, with each transducer being electrically connected to a different pair of subscriber conductors so that the pressure at any given location along the feed cable can be determined by applying a test voltage across individual subscriber conductor pairs at a remote location and noting the resistance.

The transducer, excited by a power supply, feeds a signal, which is proportional to the depth, back to the depthometer console. A reference level signal is created across a variable resistor to produce a zero reading at selectable datum depth. A full-scale selector switch is positioned to switch in a particular impedance branch to establish a range of operation from a reference-datum level as predetermined by the reference level signal. A single readout meter is capable of showing incremental depth variations of as little as 10-feet to as much as 100-foot increments, in depths in excess of ten-thousand feet.

When sensing a differential pressure, the diaphragms flex to respectively increase and decrease the strain level. By subtracting the individual output signals of the two diaphragms, a more linear transducer output signal is obtained even though the individual diaphragm output signals are nonlinear. A special strain gage pattern is not required, but a unitary fully active bridge is desirable.
