摘要: A coin processing machine comprises a rotatable disk receiving deposited coins and feeding out the received coins to a coin sorting passage by a centrifugal force produced by rotation thereof. The coin sorting passage has a pair of guide members. The denomination of coins to be processed is selected, and the coins which are fed out to the coin sorting passage are processed in accordance with the denomination selected. The coin processing machine further comprises data storage of data concerning the denomination of coins to be processed. The coin data is input into the data storage. A controller reads out the coin data from the data storage in accordance with the denomination selected so as to control the coin processing.

摘要: A method and apparatus for recognizing and counting coins is disclosed. In one aspect, the apparatus is battery powered and includes a magnet which moves between two positions upon a coin moving along a coin path. Movement of the magnet activates a reed switch that wakes up a microprocessor controlled circuit from a low power quiescent state. The circuit is then operable to count the coin and to then take appropriate action. In another aspect, the apparatus includes a second magnet located near the coin path and opposite a second reed switch. This magnet keeps the contacts of the reed switch closed until a ferromagnetic object passes therebetween and shunts the magnetic field away from the reed switch. A photointerrupter is used to detect U.S. coin currency and other non-ferromagnetic objects not detected via the second reed switch. Thus, the apparatus can distinguish ferromagnetic objects from U.S. coin currency by the method of not detecting opening of the second reed switch, but detecting an object with the photointerrupter. Also disclosed is a method for identifying the particular type of coin moving along the coin path. Further, there is disclosed a battery powered apparatus used with a conventional coin separator to count coins.

摘要: A coin sorter for sorting mixed coins by denomination. The apparatus comprises a rotatable disc which has a resilient surface for receiving coins and imparting rotational movement to the coins. A stationary sorting head has a contoured surface spaced slightly away from and generally parallel to the resilient surface of the rotatable disc. The stationary sorting head sorts and discharges coins of different denominations at different exits around the periphery of the stationary sorting head. The sorting head includes a separate exit channel for each denomination of coin, and a sensor for each coin denomination within the exit channel for that denomination. An encoder monitors the movement of a sensed coin on the rotating disc downstream of the sensors by monitoring the angular movement of the disc.

摘要: A coin sorting apparatus receives coins through an opening in a guide plate onto the resilient surface of a rotating disc. The surface of the guide plate is contoured and includes portions positioned sufficiently close to the surface of the disc to press coins traveling therebetween into the resilient surface of the disc. As the coins are circulated circumferentially between the discs, the countours in the guide plate guide the coin into a single file along a first prescribed path. Coins of at least one selected denomination are displaced to follow a second prescribed path. The coins are discharged along each described path at exit locations at the periphery of the plate.

摘要: A coin sorter having a rotatable disc includes a brake mechanism for stopping rotation of the disc in response to a predetermined number of counted coins. The disc is driven through a gear train by an electric motor. The brake mechanism includes a first brake mechanism coupled to the motor for stopping rotation thereof, a second brake mechanism coupled to the coin disc for stopping rotation thereof, and a control mechanism for operating the brake mechanisms in a synchronous manner so as to avoid any shock loads upon the gear train due to existence of torque differentials on either ends thereof. The brake mechanisms are adapted to have substantially identical stopping times and are operated in such a manner as to be energized in a substantially instantaneous manner when the braking sequence is initiated.

摘要: A device for counting and sorting coins belonging to a set of coins with a guideway 8 tangentially connected to a horizontal coin plate 3 is to be developed for separating foreign coins 11' through a sort-out opening 16. To this end, and behind a coin identifying device 14 and immediately in front of the sort-out opening 16, a diversion element 18 is movably arranged for the coins 11' identified as foreign or counterfeit coins by the coin identification device 14, with its front edge 35 arranged at a distance of at least the width of guide rail 17 from the guiding edge 9, with the diversion element 18 able to be triggered by the coin identification device 14. The diversion element 18, which in its active position is brought into the path of movement of coins 11, 11', diverts the coins from guiding edge 9 by at least a distance that is equal to or greater than the width of guide rail 17. In this manner, the foreign coins 11' to be separated out can drop through the sort-out opening 16. To improve the identification quality, the coin identifying device 14 comprises in addition to an optical fiber bar 31 for identifying diameters, also inductive heads 32, 33 to identification of the alloy of coins 11, 11' and/or for determining the thickness of coins 11, 11'. In addition, further components to identify the milled edge of the coins and their surface structure are arranged downstream.

摘要: A coin-sorting and counting machine having a stationary base and a cylindrical frame wall rotatably mounted on the base for selective rotation relative thereto. A rotatable disc with a queueing head spaced thereabove forms the coins into a queue at the perimeter of the disc whereat they are sorted by denomination, using coin depressing wheels. Counters count the coins according to denomination. The machine further includes a bag-holding receptacle for each denomination of coin being sorted to collect preselected numbers of the coins according to denomination, and holding for collecting and temporarily holding coins in excess of the preselected numbers according to denomination. The receptacles are held on a carrier plate and arranged concentrically about a pedestal supporting the frame wall. The holding tanks each have a manually operable slide gate to selectively transfer the collected excess coins therein to the coin bags. The machine has coin receivers which selectively divert the coins to the receptacles or, in response to the predetermined numbers of coins being counted, to the holding tanks. The discs, queueing head, sorting wheels, counters, bag receptacles, and holding tanks are mounted for rotation with the frame, and may be rotated to selectively bring a bag receptacle to the operator for its removal while the machine is sorting and counting coins.

摘要: An electrical circuit arrangement for use in a coin counting device is provided. The arrangement is provided with an abnormality detection circuit for generating an alarm signal when any of the optical sensing member of the coin counting device is hindered from operating normally due to adhesion of dust or other causes. The abnormality detection circuit includes a NAND gate, a NOR gate, an OR gate, a counter and an SR-type flip-flop. The first and second detection signal generated from the optical sensing members are supplied to the NAND gate and the NOR gate. The OR gate is supplied with the output from the NOR gate and a reset signal from a reset operator section. The counter is supplied with the output from the NAND gate and the output from the OR gate. In normal operation, the counter counts the level "1" and "0" of the binary logical level alternately, thereby to leave a counting section to continue the counting operation. If any abnormality occurs at any of the combined optical sensing members, the number counted by said counter takes the value 2, whereupon a second output signal indicating the occurrence of abnormality is generated by the counter and fed to the flip-flop which generates an alarm signal.

摘要: Herein disclosed is a counting device for use in a coin sorting and counting apparatus including a coin path for moving coins to be sorted and for guiding the same such that the coins being moved change their courses and leave the coin path in succession at predetermined positions according to the sizes or diameters of the coins. Further included is a coin feeding mechanism for feeding the coin path with the coins one by one. The counting device has a plurality of vibrating elements arranged at the respective positions, where the coins leave the coin path, so that they are vibrated by the coming coins, respectively, when they come into contact. A plurality of vibration sensors are connected with the vibrating elements, respectively, for converting the vibrations of the elements into electric signals. As customary, the calculating means receives the electric signals for separately calculating the numbers and sums of the coins of different sizes.
