A planetary drive system that aligns four fluid ends for a pump or four compressor cylinders in the same plane, allowing for four fluid ends/compressor cylinders to be driven by one rotation of the pump's motor. Additionally, the planetary drive system is stackable to allow, for example eight, twelve, or other multiples of fluid ends or compressor cylinders to be driven while minimizing any reduction in output pressure. The chemical injection pump also includes threaded vents on the fluid ends to capture chemicals primed through the valves to avoid spillage and waste during the priming process. The air compressor cylinders also include pistons with enhanced vacuum actuation under a flexible inlet (e.g. flapper inlet).

An apparatus and method for mixing a hydrogen sulfide scavenger with crude oil within a pipeline are disclosed. The hydrogen sulfide scavenger and the crude oil can be passed through a plurality of baffles disposed at spaced apart locations within the pipeline. The baffles can be used as an in-flow static mixer to produce increased circulation and flow speed which results in improved mixing of the hydrogen sulfide scavenger and crude oil.

Embodiments of the invention provide a process in which a gas comprising biomethane having a heating value of less than about 925 BTU/cubic foot is introduced to a pipeline system that is connected to at least one source of natural gas having a heating value of at least about 950 BTU/cubic foot. The gas comprising biomethane combines with natural gas in the pipeline system to produce a mixed gas having a heating value below about 925 BTU/cubic foot. An amount of natural gas at least equal to the amount of gas comprising biomethane is withdrawn from the pipeline system for use as a transportation fuel, a fuel intermediate or as a feedstock for producing a fuel. The process can enable fuel credit generation and/or reductions in life cycle greenhouse gas emissions.

In various embodiments, an electronic flow selector of a fluid flow control system may be used to select a flow rate of a fluid. When the system is in an electronic mode, an encoder may electronically encode the fluid flow selection. A controller may receive the electronically encoded flow selection and transmit a corresponding control signal to an electronic valve to allow the fluid to flow at the selected flow rate. When the system is in a manual mode, backup manual flow selectors may be used to directly control the flow rate of a fluid. When the system is in a manual mode, the mechanical backup flow selectors may be in a deployed position. When the system is in an electronic mode, the mechanical backup flow selectors may be in a retracted position. Particular applications to gases and anesthesia delivery are disclosed herein.

The amount or extent of expositions as a result of hot smelt from a pulp mill recovery boiler impacting cool liquid in a dissolving tank is reduced more effectively by regulating the smelt flow via a restrictor assembly. The restrictor assembly may be positioned to permit the smelt to flow, unrestricted, from the recovery boiler to the dissolving tank, or the restrictor assembly may be positioned so as to fully or partially block the smelt flow from the boiler to the dissolving tank. In some embodiments, a source of cooling fluid may be coupled to the restrictor assembly so as to assist in cooling parts of the restrictor assembly when hot smelt is in contact with the assembly.
