    摘要: An improved training doll for prospective mothers, sisters, child attendants and the like is provided which includes a life-like torso having the approximate weight, size and appearance of a baby, preferably a newborn infant. The torso has arms and legs articulated to it and including fold lines. The arms and legs are also of the proper approximate size, weight and appearance, to simulate a baby and include means in the form of surface patches for restricting movements thereof to life-like movement directions. Thus, the knees may have patch knee caps and the arms may have elbow patches. The head is also of the approximate size, weight and appearance of a baby and is connected to the torso by a weak preferably tube-like neck which permits the head to freely flop forwardly and rearwardly. This can be accomplished by pinching the neck transversely, as by a sew line, at about the junction with the torso. A transverse fold line may also be in the torso at about the midline and the doll preferably is hollow and filled with weighting material such as sand, which preferably can be added and removed to control the doll's weight. The head may include a nipple-gripping opening simulating a mouth. The doll is simple, durable and effective to train proper handling, care and feeding of infants.

    摘要: A device for simulating the pressure readings obtained from the arm of a living subject whose blood pressure levels are being determined by an oscillometric blood pressure monitor, includes a pulse pressure chamber for generating pressure pulses at a rate equivalent to a preselected pulse rate. The input to the pressure chamber is attached to the pressure cuff of the monitor and the output is connected to the pressure transducer of the monitor. In order to balance the pressure across the chamber and to apply the full cuff pressure to the monitor transducer, a normally-open valve is connected across the pressure chamber. This valve, however, is closed when the chamber creates a pressure pulse so that the pulse is added to the applied cuff pressure at the monitor transducer. A processor generates electrical signals that control the amplitude of the pressure pulses created by the chamber, depending on preselected values for simulated systolic, mean arterial and diastolic pressures.

    摘要: Improved artificial palate for use in dynamic palatographical speech researches and improvements in the method of fabricating such artificial palate are provided. The artificial palate comprises a shell body mold-formed with an electrically insulative plastic material in conformity with individual user's palate. A flexible insulative circuit board includes a plurality of sensing electrodes provided in the board over the area thereof and lead wires printed on both surfaces of the board for connecting the respective electrodes to terminals arranged on both surfaces of the board adjacent an edge thereof. The circuit board is embedded in the shell body exposing the sensing electrodes on the inner surface of the body to be in contact with user's tongue during the use. Insulation coated wires connect the electrode terminals to the exterior and form means for mounting the artificial palate in user's mouth when embedded in the plastic material contiguous to the shell body. In the fabricating method, the circuit board is preliminarily prepared in different sizes, a proper size of the circuit board is selected to be joined to the mold-formed shell body, and the plastic material is applied over the board to embed it in the body but exposing the sensing electrodes on the tongue contacting surface.

A bilateral arrangement is mounted in a manikin head and a system for simulating the use of mydriatic fluid to dilate the pupil for a given period during examination is also presented.
