摘要: An orthopedic implant having a titanium or titanium alloy body with a plurality of surfaces. The orthopedic implant is produced according to a process comprising the steps of: (a) additively building the orthopedic implant; and then (b) mechanically, chemically, or mechanically and chemically eroding one or more surfaces of the orthopedic implant to (i) remove alpha case from, and (ii) impart an osteoinducting roughness including micro-scale structures and nano-scale structures into, the one or more surfaces.

摘要: Bone-contacting surfaces and free surfaces of orthopedic implants. The implants are additively manufactured, followed by mechanical, chemical, or mechanical and chemical erosion. At least some of the surfaces of the implants include an osteoinducting roughness that has micro-scale structures and nano-scale structures that facilitate and enhance osteoinduction and osteogenesis, as well as enhanced alkaline phosphatase, osterix, and osteocalcin expression levels along the pathway of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation to osteoblasts.

摘要: A method and system provide and use a patellar implant. The patellar implant includes a superior portion, an inferior portion opposite to the superior portion, and an anterior portion. The superior portion being configured to reside below a patellar tendon and to elevate and/or tilt the patellar tendon. The inferior portion is configured to be seated in proximity to a tibia. The anterior portion is between the superior portion and the inferior portion. The anterior portion is placed in proximity to a patella. In one aspect, the method includes inserting the implant beneath the patellar tendon and between the patella and a position at which the patellar tendon is affixed to the tibia. In this aspect, the method also includes affixing the implant.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a method of defining a mating surface in a first side of an arthroplasty jig. The mating surface is configured to matingly receive and contact a corresponding patient surface including at least one of a bone surface and a cartilage surface. The first side is oriented towards the patient surface when the mating surface matingly receives and contacts the patient surface. The method may include: a) identifying a contour line associated with the patient surface as represented in a medical image; b) evaluating via an algorithm the adequacy of the contour line for defining a portion of the mating surface associated with the contour line; c) modifying the contour line if the contour line is deemed inadequate; and d) employing the modified contour line to define the portion of the mating surface associated with the contour line.
