Abstract: The described embodiments perform a proximity unlock operation. For the proximity unlock operation, a first electronic device in a locked operating state detects that an authorized second electronic device is in proximity to the first electronic device. Based on detecting the authorized second electronic device in proximity to the first electronic device, the first electronic device transitions from a locked operating state to an unlocked operating state. In the described embodiments, the transition to the unlocked operating state occurs without the user performing a manual authentication step that is performed in existing electronic devices to cause the transition from the locked operating state to the unlocked operating state.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a display, one or more processors, and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors. The one or more programs may include instructions for displaying a live video communication user interface that includes concurrently displaying representations of a first, second, and third participant in the live communication session. While displaying the live video communication user interface, the one or more programs may also include instructions for include receiving data indicating that an activity level of the second participant has increased above the activity level of the first participant. Further, in response to receiving the data, the one or more programs may further include instructions for changing a size and/or position of the representations of the first, second, and third participants.

Abstract: A method is performed at an electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts. The method includes displaying, on the display, a user interface for an application; detecting an edge input that includes detecting a change in a characteristic intensity of a contact proximate to an edge of the touch-sensitive surface; and, in response to detecting the edge input: in accordance with a determination that the edge input meets system-gesture criteria, performing an operation that is independent of the application, wherein: the system-gesture criteria include intensity criteria; the system-gesture criteria include a location criterion that is met when the intensity criteria for the contact are met while the contact is within a first region relative to the touch-sensitive surface; and the first region relative to the touch-sensitive surface is determined based on one or more characteristics of the contact.

Abstract: An electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts: displays an application launching user interface; detects a first touch input that includes detecting a first contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a first application icon for launching a first application that is associated with one or more corresponding quick actions; in response to detecting the first touch input, in accordance with a determination that the first touch input meets one or more application-launch criteria, launches the first application; and, in accordance with a determination that the first touch input meets one or more quick-action-display criteria, which include a criterion that is met when the characteristic intensity of the first contact increases above a respective intensity threshold, concurrently displays one or more quick action objects associated with the first application along with the first application icon.

Abstract: A method performed in a portable computing device for intelligently performing audio playback, upon connecting with an audio output system. The portable computing device detects that a connection is made with an audio output system. The portable computing device determines a first audio playback application that last played audio and when the first audio playback application last played audio. If the first audio playback application played audio within a specified amount of time in the past, then the portable computing device signals that audio playback be performed from the first audio playback application (through the connection made with the audio output system.) If the first audio playback application did not play audio within the specified amount of time in the past, then the portable computing device determines a second audio playback application that last played audio when the portable computing device was previously connected to the audio output system and signals audio playback from the second audio playback application (through the connection made with the audio output system.) Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: An application launching user interface that includes a plurality of application icons for launching corresponding applications is displayed. A first touch input is detected on a first application icon of the plurality of application icons. The first application icon is for launching a first application that is associated with one or more corresponding quick actions. If the first touch input meets one or more application-launch criteria which require that the first touch input has ended without having met a first input threshold, the first application is launched in response to the first touch input. If the first touch input meets one or more quick-action-display criteria which require that the first touch input meets the first input threshold, one or more quick action objects associated with the first application are concurrently displayed along with the first application icon without launching the first application, in response to the first touch input.

Abstract: The present embodiments relate to entry and management of identifiers and credentials. The present embodiments display a credential affordance that, upon selection, provides a credential-assistance user interface for enabling swift access to various credential and management options. The credential affordance can be displayed based on a determination by electronic device that a webpage includes a text entry field associated with a set of one or more restricted resources (e.g., document and/or webpage).

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to making payments with a mobile device. In one example process, the mobile device receives and stores information for one or more payment accounts on the mobile device. The mobile device is used to make payments using the payment accounts. In some examples, authorization to proceed with a payment is performed before each purchase made by the user. The authorization process can include receiving a verification of the user, such as a fingerprint scan or passcode. In some examples, a payment account is selected from among available payment accounts. In some examples, an indication is displayed of a digital item associated with a purchased item. In some examples, a payment transaction is initiated with participants of an ongoing communication. In some examples, an application of a retailer is invoked based on the availability of the application. In some examples, a purchase recommendation is provided.
