Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting narrowband device-to-device (D2D) wireless communication, including possible techniques for providing synchronization and master information block signals in an off grid radio system. A wireless device may provide D2D synchronization signals for a D2D communication group. The D2D synchronization signals may be provided using multiple frequency channels. The D2D synchronization signals may be provided on each respective frequency channel of the frequency channels during a respective portion of a D2D synchronization signal cycle in a sequential manner.

Abstract: A circuit component may determine whether first signal indicative of at least one of the plurality of communication interface circuits accessing the FEM during a respective communication slot associated with the FEM has been received, determine a first Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) value for the respective communication slot used by the FEM based on data associated with the respective communication slot, and store the first RSSI value in response to the first signal not being received. The circuit component may then determine a first gain for a subsequent slot based on the first RSSI value and discard the first RSSI value in response to the first signal being received.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to transmitting an emergency message to a user equipment device (UE) over a wireless local area network (WLAN). The UE may establish a connection with an access point through WLAN. The UE may transmit, via the access point and to a network entity, an indication that the UE supports receiving emergency messaging through the WLAN. At least in part in response to communicating the indication, the UE may receive, from the network entity and via the access point, an emergency message and location information. The UE may compare the location information with a location of the UE to determine whether the UE is located within a first region specified by the location information. Based on a determination that the location of the UE is within the first region, the UE may display the emergency message on a display of the UE.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for providing robust downlink control information with flexible resource assignments for wireless devices that operate in a restricted bandwidth compared to the system bandwidth. A base station may determine a resource assignment for a wireless device. The base station may transmit downlink control information to the wireless device. The downlink control information may include an indication of a resource assignment for the wireless device. The indication of the resource assignment may include an indication of a first narrowband associated with the resource assignment, and an indication of whether one or more additional narrowbands are associated with the resource assignment. The base station and the wireless device may communicate data according to the resource assignment.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to manage an uplink bearer that utilizes concurrent inter-RAT dual uplink connectivity to avoid packet loss during bearer switch, handover, and/or radio link failure occasions. The wireless device may establish a first wireless link according to a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second wireless link according to a second RAT. A data bearer may be established that utilizes both the first wireless link and the second wireless link. Uplink data packets of the data bearer that are provided to a protocol stack for the second RAT may be stored in a buffer. The second wireless link may be lost. The stored uplink data packets that were provided to the protocol stack for the second RAT may be provided to a protocol stack for the first RAT based at least in part on the second wireless link being lost.

The one or more data packages may comprise an updated machine learning model in a distributed learning application. The network controller provides an indication to a remote device to broadcast the one or more data packages in the respective one or more broadcast regions using eMBMS.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to a mobile device that communicates over short-range networks and long-range networks. In various embodiments, a mobile device includes one or more radios configured to communicate using a plurality of radio access technologies (RATs) including a cellular RAT and a short-range RAT. The mobile device may establish a first connection and a second connection with a network such that the first connection uses the short-range RAT and the second connection uses the cellular RAT. The mobile may collect information about the second connection and communicate the collected information to the network over the first connection. In some embodiments, the information includes a base station identifier, an MCC, an MNC, the cellular RAT and a cellular information age indicating the time since the information about the second connection was collected by the UE.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using an unlicensed radio frequency band component carrier for uplink transmission are disclosed. A wireless communication device receives a carrier aggregation configuration, which can include at least one licensed radio frequency band component carrier and at least one unlicensed radio frequency band component carrier. The wireless communication device establishes a set of radio bearers and associates an unlicensed radio frequency band permission level with each of the radio bearers. The wireless communication device multiplexes uplink traffic for the radio bearers on the at least one licensed radio frequency band component carrier and the at least one unlicensed radio frequency band component carrier based at least in part on the unlicensed radio frequency band permission levels associated with the radio bearers.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to use of WLAN virtual interfaces. According to one embodiment, a wireless device may be capable of using a WLAN chipset for user initiated WLAN communication and for cellular offloading WLAN communication. A separate WLAN virtual interface may be established for each type of WLAN communication, including a first WLAN virtual interface between the WLAN chipset and a WLAN connectivity manager executing on an application processor of the wireless device and a second WLAN virtual interface between the WLAN chipset and a cellular connectivity manager executing on the application processor. The virtual interfaces may each use a different IP address, and may either multiplex data onto a shared RF chain in a time-sharing manner or each be provided with their own RF chain to perform WLAN communication.
