Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for enhancement of multi-SIM devices, such as UE 106. A network may increase paging retries for known MU-SIM devices, e.g., based on an indication of capabilities from a MU-SIM device. The indication may be via a NAS registration request, an RRC capability procedure, and/or an RRC UE assistance procedure. Additionally, a network may include an indication of a paging priority to the UE. The UE may then determine a response to the page based, at least in part, on the indicated priority. Further, the UE may indicate a tune-away to the network. The indication of the tune-away may include a cause and/or duration for the tune-away and may be provided at an RRC level or a network access stratum (NAS) level.

Abstract: Devices and associated methods for operating a dual-subscriber identity module (SIM) dual-standby (DSDS) user equipment device (UE) configured with a first SIM and a second SIM. The UE performs communications with a first cellular network using the first SIM and a first radio resource control (RRC) connection, and receives a request to perform a higher priority communication using the second SIM. In response to the request to perform the higher priority communication, the UE transmits a request to the first network to suspend the first RRC connection. After transmission of the request to suspend the first RRC connection, the UE receives a message from the first network to place the first RRC connection in an inactive state, and initiates a timer, wherein the timer is used to determine whether the first RRC connection remains in the inactive state or transitions to an idle state.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing cell re-selection while in an inactive state in a cellular communication system. A wireless device may establish a radio resource control connection with a cellular base station. The wireless device may receive an indication to enter a radio resource control inactive state. The wireless device may perform cell re-selection while in the radio resource control inactive state. Cells that are in the current radio access network notification area of the wireless device may be prioritized over cells that are not in the current radio access network notification area of the wireless device when performing cell re-selection while in the radio resource control inactive state.

Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE), manufacturer server, and/or cellular network to perform radio capability signaling. A new type of UE radio capability identifier is provided which may allow a network to distinguish between similar UEs that have or have not implemented a capability update. In order to perform a forced capability update, a manufacturer may issue information about the update to a cellular network (and receive acknowledgement of the information) prior to pushing the update to UEs. In response to an unforced capability update, a cellular network may maintain multiple UE radio capability identifiers for similar UEs which have or have not implemented the update. A UE radio capability identifier may be adjusted dynamically in response to temporary changes in the UE's capability.

Alternatively or additionally, such a determination may be based on monitoring rebroadcasts of the alert and/or determining that no rebroadcast has been received for a period of time.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to apportioning data between network links in dual-connectivity environments. In some embodiments, a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity implemented by a mobile device determines a ratio for sending packet data to two or more different radio link control (RLC) entities implemented by the mobile device for dual connectivity communications via two or more different networks. In some embodiments, in response to a current data volume meeting a threshold value, the PDCP entity apportions packet data between the two or more different RLC entities based on the determined ratio. The ratio may be determined based on various input parameters from one or more protocol layers or may be specified by the network. In various embodiments, the disclosed techniques may improve resource utilization and reduce re-ordering delay at the receiver.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receive a list of Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs) that support a given network slice in a given country, different from a home country of a home PLMN of the UE. When roaming in the given country, UE may access a PLMN of the list if the given network slice is desired. The list may be provided by the home PLMN: while the UE is in the home country; or via a visited PLMN while the UE is in the given country. The list may be received in response to a UE-initiated request, or pushed to the UE by the home PLMN. A validity timer period received with the list may indicate a duration of validity of the list. In an alternative scenario, the UE may receive the list from an entitlement server, e.g., one belonging to a visited PLMN.

Abstract: An accessory device may dynamically determine to transition a cellular connection between mobile-initiated communication only (MICO) mode and non-MICO mode based on a variety of factors. The accessory device may be configured to communicate through a non-cellular network in addition to the cellular network. The accessory device may transition from MICO to non-MICO mode based on one or more of: loss of the non-cellular connection; location of the accessory device; a call, data, or SMS request failure over the non-cellular network; or other factors.
