Abstract:
An oral care composition comprising zinc phosphate, stannous fluoride, arginine or lysine and an organic acid buffer system, as well as methods of using the same.
Abstract:
Provided is an oral care composition comprising a phosphate/acrylate co-polymer, a tartar control agent, and an orally acceptable carrier and methods of using the same.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides hypersensitivity preventative tooth varnish compositions comprising, inter alia, ethyl cellulose and fluoride, and methods for the use of such compositions for the treatment of hypersensitive teeth.
Abstract:
The invention includes a dentifrice composition that comprises a zinc ion source, a polvphosphate ion source, an anethole, and a silica. The silica has a mean particle size of about 5 to about 12 microns, an Einlehner hardness of about 1 to about 20, and an oil absorption of about 40 to less than about 100 cc/100 g. The composition contains zinc ions and polyphosphate ions in a weight ratio of about 0.71:1 to about 10:1 and has a RDA value of about 100 to about 200 and a PCR value of about 75 to about 110. Related methods are also included.

Abstract:
A method of detecting stannous ions that includes providing a zincon-containing indicator having a color, contacting the indicator with a sample, and detecting any resulting change in the color of the indicator, wherein a change in the color of the indicator from the color to colorless indicates that stannous ions are present in the sample. The method is useful for the analysis of oral care compositions. Also provided is the use of zinc on as an indicator for detecting stannous ions.
Abstract:
A dental tray with a hydrophobic tooth whitening formulation where the tooth whitening formulation is substantially non-water soluble, and a method of using this dental tray to whiten the teeth. The tooth whitening formulation is primarily comprised of a hydrophobic polymer and a peroxide or a peroxide yielding compound. Preferably the hydrophobic polymer is the condensation product of a silicone resin and an organosiloxane. The dental tray is formed to encompass the front and the rear surfaces of the teeth. The dental tray is comprised of a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer. The teeth whitening formulation is placed into the dental tray and the tray placed against the teeth to be whitened. This is for a sufficient period of time to at least partially whiten teeth. This can be a period of time from about 0.5 hour to 2 hours or more. The substantially non-aqueous tooth whitening formulation is effective over a longer period of time since it is not significantly diluted or removed from the dental tray during the treatment time.
Abstract:
Oral care compositions containing a stannous salt and sodium tripolyphosphate are provided where stannous tripolyphosphate ionic intermediates comprise less than about 1 of the compositions. Tetrasodium pyrophosphate, a methylvinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer and/or a silica oral polishing agent may be added for further efficacy. In a single phase blend, the oral care composition may be effectively limited to comprise less than about 10% water. In a dual-phase blend, a mixture having the stannous salt in a first phase and the sodium tripolyphosphate in a second phase may be generated from a dual chamber storage tube (with each phase provided from a separate chamber) prior to dental care usage.
